I personally applied for a job on the Commonwealth Games because I expected to be part of an awsome well prepared machine that was ganna make magic happen in my local city.

My position was working with the Commonwealth Games Associations AKA the Teams officials and big cheeses and athletes. Was proud and very excited when getting this particular role.

Training for this position was like working with people who never read the brief of what the role was. I was bored out of my mind, listening to trainers tell the same information I had learnt by reading the briefs and the online training. Painful to say the most.

Mistakes I found
The venues were out door venues such as swimming and volley ball, and we hosted the event in the most rainy month of the year for the Gold Coast. Just this time in march last year Brisbane had record damaging floods in torential rains.
The fact that we had advertised the Gold Coast to only rain 46 days a year on the coast like it was ganna be sunny and beautiful was a shame. I dont think that reflected well on the international scale.

It wasnt just my positions training that had gone poorly apparently. The drivers for the mega event had little to no experence driving routes on the Gold Coast and had to be glued to their gps app, WHICH CRASHED alot. Teams were sent to the wrong end of Queensland and missed their events, and athletes and officals were lost on their way too and from the airport and the village. - Unacceptable- drivers who had told me all they did on their shift was wait around for 8 hours on their phones. Learn where you have to drive dumb asses.

Organisation skills of departments really lacked, and didnt cooperate. simple tasks of booking cars for athletes or officials simply didnt run smoothly.

Things went missing in the village, money, clothes, personal belongings. The staff for house cleaning were all spannish or mexican which was a communication break down in itself. The village and games are supose to be english speaking.

Business was put under stress when locals were told to stay off the road. Transporting attendies to venues failed because the transport dropped them off to late. There was no time to buy food from local business, and by the time the event finished businesses were closed or attendies just herded onto buses home.

The aboriginal protests of the Stolenwealth games - If you dont understand the benefit economically of mega events than you simply look ignorant and rude.

Native aboriginal inclusion of their culture is sacred and special, i think Australia needs to be proud to show this culture off, and not let two cultures continue to divide. They are a unique people, with deep rooted connections to the earth, they need more respect than theyre given.
