Muay Thai is a kind of boxing art that is the national sport of Thailand, celebrated every year on March 17 as the National Muay Thai Day. He is also known as Thai boxing.

The heart of the holiday is the glorification of the legendary fighter named Nai Khan Tom, who was captured by the Burmese during the war of 1775 and brought to Rangoon, where he was forced to participate in battles against Burmese boxers.
