Parkinson by blows, in the NFL
In 2015, Chris Borland, a San Francisco 49ers rookie linebacker, was surprised to announce that he was retiring from the NFL concerned about the effects that could be caused by receiving blows to the head and suffering commotions in his mental health.
Most of the research and articles focused on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a disease that is now associated with Parkinson's and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
In the last 18 months there have been - according to the newspaper, the Los Angeles Times - 113 Parkinson's claims and 42 ELA claims by former players or their repre sentatives.
Of these, 81 correspond to Parkinson's and 30 to (ELA), which the NFL has paid with 145 Million dollars for the agreement it made to treat the neurodegenerative diseases caused by the blows.
