The Latest Updates Coming to HIVE and @splinterlands
I know I have been saying the good times are going to come for many years now. If you look at the price charts, you will notice that we are 2X up from the prices we had just a few months ago. If this was the stock market, such returns would be regarded as impressive. Warren Buffett's annual returns for Berkshire Hathaway for 2024 was 25.49%. There are others in the hedge fund world that are doing even better. Warren Buffet's biggest strength is compounding returns from being so many years in the market.
The second column is returns based on how the manager allocated the funds and third column is based on equal weights given to each stock. This is my source. The reason I brought this up is to showcase how great we have it in cryptosphere to excel with massive returns on the investments. On top of that we have passive income streams in the form of staking, LPs, Airdrops and more. We are doing better than those who are investing in traditional finance. We are failing in comparison to memecoins and few other large gainers of this bull market.
Land 1.75 is Even Closer to Launch
The first 90 percent of the code accounts for the first 90 percent of the development time. The remaining 10 percent of the code accounts for the other 90 percent of the development time.

There is no official ETA given. Programs do not come out of an assembly line. Giving exact dates leads to unnecessary frustrations and even FUD in the case of some delays. What we are told in the Land Baron's Discord Channel is that @cryptomancer is on track for a Q1 release. That means somewhere before March 31st.
1. Did back-end code changes for processing wood, stone, and iron resource inputs when a harvest operation is done.
2. Tested resource input processing for individual plot claims.
3. Started working on validation code changes for Harvest All operations.
In the week ahead, I will be focusing on completing code changes related to the Harvest All operation, and maybe a couple more minor UI tweaks as well. Here's another teaser screenshot I don't think I've shown you yet, demonstrating resource inputs on the individual plot claim screen
Nothing is to be considered final until it is released. There are unfroseen events such as the HIVE-Engine attack we had recently by someone hating @aggroed (one of the key figures behind some of the greatest things ever to happen to HIVE, including @splinterlands).
Upcoming Hard Forks and Features to HIVE
The following section is mostly based on an AI summary created by @asgarth based on developer discussions (which almost nobody takes a look at). Most of the upcoming updates will not mean anything significant to the average user.
🏷️ 1. DHF Inflation Change & Commit Squashing
- The team confirmed that DHF inflation changes (related to funding the Decentralized Hive Fund) are ready to be merged.
- Plans to squash commits before merging to keep the commit history clean.
- A tutorial on advanced
git
techniques (likepick
,fixup
, etc.) will be shared to ensure the repository remains professional and well-organized.
❌ 2. Removal of Legacy Test Files (Hivemind)
- Discussion about removing old JSON test files originally used when Hivemind was served differently (pre-Hive era).
- Rationale: these files can be confusing and are no longer actively maintained.
- The team leans toward removing them soon, but some prefer waiting until the new REST APIs fully replace them.
We need to have as many developers as possible on HIVE who will go on to make DAPPs users will come to use. Having a clear backend with easy to understand code and documentation can go a long way to onboard developers.
🌐 3. Rosetta Integration Update
- Ongoing Rosetta integration work is experiencing slow communication with the Rosetta team.
- A single Docker file must bundle
hived
,HAF
(Hive Application Framework) components, and the custom REST API for Rosetta compliance.- Progress is being made, but the timeline for completion remains uncertain.
What users need to know is that Rosetta will help with exchange listing and it is a must before a Coinbase listing (which may or may not happen in 2025).
⚙️ 4. Upcoming Releases & Hard Fork Planning
- A new suite of releases (for
hived
, HAF, Hivemind, etc.) is planned:
- **Hivemind fixes**:
- **`list_subscribers`** bug/pagination fix.
- **`get_ranked_post_communities`** pagination fix.
- **Performance boosts** and **schema changes** to reduce replay time and storage size.
- Current replay benchmarks:
- **Hivemind**: ~1 day 16 hours on high-performance machines.
- **Block Explorer** (powered by HAF plugins) replay time has dropped from ~24 hours to ~13 hours.
- **`balance_tracker`**: ~7 hours replay (3x faster).
- **`reputation_tracker`**: ~15 hours replay (further optimizations planned).
- Hard Fork Date: Not finalized; could be within a month or possibly a few months away.
- The team may do a v1.27 release (with new features) and then v1.28 to trigger the actual HF.
- Signing changes (for Light Accounts and other improvements) might be included depending on development time estimates.
I do think it is a good idea to take it safe and slow for the Hard Forks. I have been through too many Hard Forks that made most users unable to use HIVE for multiple days. A boring an uneventful upgrade that does not become a source of FUD or inhibit onboarding is exactly what we need.
📝 5. New & Updated API Calls
list_subscribers
: Now properly supports pagination; previously had issues returning consistent or correctly paginated results.get_ranked_post_communities
: Fixed paging so it works as expected.- Balance Tracker: Will now track delegations and improve data retrieval.
🚀 6. HAF & Hivemind Performance Enhancements
- Faster block processing in both
hivemind
and HAF-based apps (e.g.,balance_tracker
,block_explorer
,reputation_tracker
).- Reduced data storage by removing redundant fields and optimizing schema.
- PG tuning: New tools like
pg_gather
used to analyze and optimize database vacuuming, indexing, and toast usage.
📦 7. Packaging & Docker Improvements
- Beekeeper size reduced from ~9.3 MB to ~3.3 MB.
- WAX (Wallet & API eXperience) size cut from ~10.2 MB to ~5.6 MB.
- Future optimizations aim to shrink these further.
- Consolidated Docker approach for multiple components (HAF,
hived
, custom REST APIs) under one image for easier deployment.
🐍 8. WAX & Python Integration
- Efforts to expand WAX’s Python capabilities:
- Currently, WAX has a JavaScript/TypeScript library (`workerbee`) which provides easy chain streaming and transaction signing.
- The **Python version** is being developed in stages. Initial focus: building transactions, signing, broadcasting.
- Full streaming support (like `workerbee`) in Python is a **longer-term** goal.
🔎 9. Block Explorer UI Improvements
- New Raw JSON page for any post or comment:
- Displays the full raw JSON data plus standard post details (title, payout, comments, etc.).
- Default search period increased from 1,000 blocks (~30 minutes) to 30 days to capture more history in one query.
- User profile now has three tabs:
1. **Operations** (default, displays all ops from the user),
2. **Comments** (posts/comments by the user),
3. **Interactions** (votes, replies on specific posts/comments).
- Improved operation filter popup with an expandable list for more intuitive selection.
💡 10. Next Steps & Ongoing Work
- Light Accounts: Development will resume post-release; involves deeper changes to
hived
for signing.- OpenAPI versioning: Enhancements to automate or streamline version updates for new/modified APIs.
- Continuous performance tuning & bug fixes across the ecosystem.
Lite accounts could have some interesting use cases for user onboarding and bringing more use cases for DAPPs. Most of the cryptosphere is used to free accounts that are a string of random characters. Those have been working great for many projects.
Performance in @splinterlands
I became an investor before there was even a game to play. I have HODLed majority of my game assets (both earned and bought). I have been a long term investors and I'm looking forward to see better times. The project was spread too thin during the bear market. We are finally starting to see old promises come together along with new upgrades.
Marketing events are slowly kicking off and we will be getting more players over the next few months. The above Tweet received over 4.7K views + 110 reposts. These could be the final months we have left with to have low competition.

There are may of us who have been with our investments as they took massive dips in the markets. After everything, it may not seem like we are winning. This is not a good thing to feel right when things started to get good in a very real way. I used to have 100,000 SPS staked as a good target. At the All Time High prices, my current stake alone would have been worth $100,000. We have a long way left to go. The journey upwards began few months ago. Do not leave before reaping the best of Rewards.
