What An Amazing First Two Weeks Playing Poker On SPL

I wanted to post my progress over the last two weeks playing poker on SPL (steemit poker league). My first tournament, as most of you already know, was the International Womens Day Freeroll which I took first place in on the 8th March, and I thought that was fantastic. However, I thought that it couldn’t really get any better than that, I thought that, for just that one day the cards were in my favor and that I probably won’t pull off another win any time soon.

I was quite wrong about that, because since then I’ve taken first place in the SPL @celsius100 5 SBD Freeroll II on the 13th March, and then another first place yesterday in the SPL 0.10 Chip Turbo Unlimited Rebuy. I’ve also taken a 2nd place and a couple of 3rd places and come in the money 12 times out of 17 tourneys played, and in only two weeks, I have to consider that one of my best runs ever in poker.

I have played many of the online poker rooms such as pokerstars, fulltilt, ignition poker, doyles room and more, and I do only consider myself an average player, which is why I’m so excited about my last two weeks play, it’s been awesome. There are many good players here and I love playing poker at steemit poker league, probably more so than any of the other poker rooms I’ve played at. It’s difficult to pinpoint why though, it’s not because I’m doing so well, that’s some of it, but I think it’s the atmosphere and the players too, it’s more fun than the other poker rooms I’ve played at.

I remember playing in some of the big freerolls on the larger sites where you would get 10,000+ players enter and it just got crazy, which in turn made me play crazy, I even got to call it the lottery table, because everyone would just go all-in and see which of us won. That was towards the end, because in the beginning I played these huge freerolls like I wanted to win, which took more than 8hrs some days, only to go out two or three from the money. It got very disheartening at times, which is why I decided to play for real money and hit the real money tournaments and the sit-n-gos.

It’s been a while since playing in the larger poker rooms, probably a couple of years in fact, so when I joined steemit and found there was a poker site, I decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did because this is a poker room with a difference, I think so anyway, poker players sponsoring and hosting freerolls, poker school, great atmosphere and great players all makes for a good time, especially for an average player. Novices will do well here and enjoy themselves while learning the game and becoming better as they play along with fellow steemians.

I’m sure as more players join the SPL I will come in the money less and less, but that doesn’t bother me, I will continue to play here even if I don’t come in the money again, it’s just such fun. I look forward to playing in many more tournaments and I’m especially looking forward to playing in the team poker events, more fun.
