The Self-Conscious Bird
One morning, there were two birds sitting in a tree, singing their morning song.
One bird turned to the other and asked, “Do I sound good? How does my beak look? How do my feathers look when I sing? Am I singing too loud? Am I hitting the right notes? Do you think everyone likes it?”
The other cocked its head and replied, “Who fucking cares!? Just sing! Let the singing happen. It doesn’t matter what you sound like, what you look like, or who listens. You’re still carrying around that self-obsessive, self-conscious bullshit from your last life as a human.”
