The most obvious and quick benefit of Yoga is the increase of flexibility. During the first class, you will probably not be able to touch your toes but relax and don't worry. As time passes you will observe a gradual improvement and eventually asanas which were almost impossible to be performed will turn into easy steps in your life.
At the same time, you will also observe that some pains will soon disappear and, believe me, it is not a coincidence. Yoga has the power to teach your mind to connect different muscles so your body can work in complete synergy.
Do you need an example? When you feel your hips are locked up, that can force a whole lot the articulations of your knee, leading to a misalignment of the muscles of the thig and also the bones of the legs. With that said, these problems can cause so great pain in our low back region and, therefore, so much pain in our back as well. Everything is connected! Besides that, the lack of flexibility in other tissues, as ligaments, can cause a bad posture.
