Scarcity vs. Abudndance ~PARADIGM THE WHOLE SOCIETY IS BLIND TO!!
I'm uncomfortable with introductions, so I will just put this right here.
I have started with a few initial posts, then I haven't wrote in a while, then I avoided to create a post for more than two months. I'm not exactly sure why this happened, I guess it's because I forgot about things that truly matter to me.
I forgot that I want to spread out the message, and the act of wanting to do it the right way has actually gotten into the way of me actually spreading it.
I thought that I need to work on my writing, to practice it more, to read more books, to acquire better skills of expression, to meditate more, to discover my calling, to figure out the way of getting to the audience.
While all of this is great to strive towards, and self-development is a great tool for moving yourself up and enhance the quality of your life, it is very easy to replace those things with your true inspiration, because they're coming from the place of you trying to control everything and trying to "get it right."
And in this striving, I noticed that I will never acquaire the perfect knowledge, I will never be perfectly fixed, I will never write perfectly, and I will never have a perfect lifestyle.
You probably heard a lot of cliché sayings about how "nothing's perfect," so I decided not to bore you with that too much. However, here's a great insight I was inspired to write down when I discovered what I'm doing with my time.
"Self-development is a tricky thing man. Nothing wrong with it or it's intentions. The bad thing where I think a lot of people get off the track is the problem of looking at your WHOLE life as a thing that needs to be worked at. Whenever some challenge arrives in your life, you immediately think I should pursue more self-development, I'm not nearly actualized enough. You get this mentality of a mechanic who would like to drive cars, but is so caught up in fixing their engines and working whole day, that he doesn't acutally go and ride the damn car.
If you didn't get what I'm saying, riding a car is living life, and fixing engines is personal development. If your whole day passes by with you looking at it as a "learning experience" and a challenge that was overcomed, you missed the point of living. It's okay to repair the engine, and turn up the horsepower, but what's the fuckin' use if you ain't never driving the damn thing, but you're just addicted to fix the next part of the machine. Drive the damn car! FUCK! I'm pissed. At myself for doing this, not letting the life flow. Pick a book, enjoy the fucking text there, don't look what page you're at, enjoy the damn book, think it through, be patient. The knowledge you get should be the byproduct of your curiosity, not the damn thing that's motivating you to pick the book up.
Give yourself the opportunity to live. Please. It's extremely fulfilling, extremely fun, extremely sad, extremely frustrating and extremely life-ful. What a blast! "
Except that I successfully excused myself now, what I just wrote relates greatly to what I would like to touch upon in this article.
Modern culture
Today, especially in the western world, there is a lot of emphasis on achievement, improving stuff, speeding up, saving for the better future, etc. This slowly conditions us that there is always the next thing to get to. Next promotion, next trip, next holiday, next event, next appointment, next task. We get so immersed into the next, that we totally overlook what we already have... or do... or ARE.
We never take the time where we do nothing. To TAKE IN our successes, to appreciate what we have, to be thankful for the people around us, to just notice the feeling of what it is to be alive. To breathe in (Please do).
We always think that there is more to do, and we become restless. How many times you said to yourself, "Oh, just if I could get over this one thing, I would finally be relaxed and happy", only to find out that after you finally got over it, you were immediately on your legs chasing for next thing.
It's important to realize that climbing up the latter is just a game we play. But the moment we start to identify with that game and start placing our self-worht onto it, we get ourselves into trouble. We want to go higher and higher, and we never cease looking upwards, while we miss all of the treasure that's right in front of us. It's very important not to take this game too seriously or to compromise the quality of your life and happiness for it.
Paradigm shift
Scarcity is the place where we think we lack something, that we need something more to feel satisfied, and then we start to do those things waiting for the satisfaction and the payoff. But with this point of view, you will never get what you seek.
The catch is in turning the paradigms upside down.
You have to realize that ALL the time, you've been looking at things as a way to find fullfilment in them. But there is always unconditional fullfilment that you can find within you, without having to meet any requirments and conditions.
You just blinded yourself to see it, building layers upon layers of false beliefs because everything from the outside keeps telling you that you're not enough as you are, but that you need something more. It's the main marketing strategy, and it's what everybody around you believes.
Noone questions whether it's true, whether we really need more to feel good. Society is operating from scarcity paradigm, and when you operate in a certain paradigm, you can't even see that you're in it!
Remember, there are no conditions or requirments to the state of abundance: you've been chasing after the next thing for so long that you're addicted to that feel of lack, and even this information is probably very hard for you to swallow.
Please realize that you, and people around you have been doing this your whole life. You think that when you finally get that raise, lose your weight, or become more confident, that you will become fullfiled. But that's not going to make you feel better, because there will always be more to acquaire and you will perpetually delay the opportunity to finally be in the present moment.
Inspiration
Now you can object with the following: "But hey, isn't this what we naturally want to do? Is it not in our basic motive to evolve and develop and it's what got us to this amazing, modern world where we have better lives and more opportunities?"
Yes it is, exactly! You got it!! This is the reason why you don't have to beat yourself up and work on motivation and hustle mentality. Working on motivation reinforces that you're not a motivated person, but how can you believe that you're not a motivated person if you think that it's in your very nature to evolve and work on something for the better future?
If it was in our basic nature, why would we have to be so obssesed about finisihing tasks, making ourselves more productive, etc. ? Well, obviously, we wouldn't, and it's exactly what puts us in the scarcity mentality.
We try to figure what we have to do, robbing ourselves to feel what we're actually excited to do.
We tend to think that if we had all the money in the world, we would just slack off, watch movies and eat junk food all the time. And that might be true in the beggining, because we're so exhausted from having to chase new things the whole time, but after a while, we would get bored of doing that and something REAL would kick in, something authentic!
We would get inspired to work on some project we may be putting off because we "didn't have time" to dedicate any attention towards it, or we would want to acquire a certain skill, or read the book that was on our mind for a quiet while.
Exactly because it's not in our nature to slack off all the time, we would be doing something, without having to urge ourselves. We've become obssesed about how we must be doing something, how we must find our purpose, but because we're not relying on our own intuition, and there's no self-trust, we never get the chance of really experiencing that inner drive. We are never at ease and getting into the flow of doing things.
Happiness is unconditional!
There's no condition you need to satisfy in order to be happy. Happiness is our default, there is nothing to deserve it!
If you're constantly delaying happiness for the next task, for tomorrow, or for the next week, realize that you'll never get there.
If you want to find out more about this topic, and hear me out on how you should go about changing paradigms, FOLLOW and WATCH OUT for the articles to come!!
This is an excellent post @calibratedwisdom. Scarcity vs. abundance- we must choose one or the other. We cannot have both, so it would be wise to live with the spirit of abundance. We attract what we focus on- if we are contantly looking at ourselves & having a lack of something- then we will be proven right. Great post!
It's not so much about choosing, as it is about realizing :) You can't force abundance.
Trying to get to abundance is still coming from scarcity :D
But I agree overall with what you're saying. Thank you very much!!

I saw your post featured on the Whaleshares Curation Show...congratulations on that!
Your words resonated with me very much. We are very much on the same wave length. I had a powerful experience a couple of weeks ago that reinforced the trust that I have in my intuition. Relaxing into the idea that I know that I know has made all of the difference for me. What a crazy ride we're on...we might as well sit back and enjoy ALL OF IT! Keep up the great work.
Yes exactly! Thanks and I will make sure to keep it up :=)
