What is your life's work? You're true calling?
So initially I just wanted to post a before-and-after picture of a really cool artificial corporate landscape project that I did last year in my design business. However.... before my eyes, this post, as well as it's title, suddenly changed. Stay with me because there is a diamond embedded in this post if your willing and ready to see it.
While at church today, the pastor was helping us to begin a journey of learning our true divine calling though a very helpful questionnaire that he passed out. A homework of sorts to be done over the next several weeks. For the sake of staying on task (because I could go on several rabbit trails right now) let's talk about what you're good at. Don't say "nothing"...everyone has a gift or 2 or 3. If you don't know what it is, ask people who know you.
So let's get started.......
What are you good at?
What are you passionate about?
Where do you excel in your life with minimal effort?
What get's you so excited?
Maybe you love children, are an excellent craftsman, writer, singer, speaker, listener, mathematician, gardener, athlete, teacher, etc
Getting my drift?
As a professional decorator and event supplier I can transform anything. From your low budget basement venue location for your wedding day, to your indoor or outdoor landscaping, to a beauty makeover. Just call me the "Jackie-of-all-trades".
It was at this time that I was trying to figure out WHAT mine really was, my God-given talent. I began thinking, I'm a decorator, but it isn't decorating, I'm a landscaper, but it isn't landscaping, I'm a hairstylist, but it isn't cutting hair....so what was it?! Then it came to me.....it's creating, designing and transforming things. It is incredibly satisfying and fulfilling for me to take something in it's old state, and make it alive again, more beautiful, make it new. Whether it's an event space, landscaping, or changing someone's look . When it's a God given talent, it comes easy for you, you can make it look beautiful and then step back and be baffled at how you just did that! My personal answer, "by the grace of God"!
Now the diamond. Go back and answer the questions again. Not in 5 seconds, but ponder them this week. Are you doing what God has designed you to do, or are you just settling? Making money for a paycheck? Drifting through life. God has given you talents, use them for your enjoyment and God's glory!
