Late Night Thoughts: Why Do So Many People Judge You For Wanting To Be Wealthy?
Is Wanting Wealth So Bad?
During my early experiences in my crypto currency journey, I was met with a lot of negative energy in the form of comments geared to prevent me from taking the risk on this new and vastly misunderstood technology.
Now that cryptocurrencies are more or less in the mainstream, the negative energy seems to have remained, but just in a different form. It's sort of a mix of greed, jealously, and FOMO.
Whenever the price crashes, I am met with several "I told you so" and "How much did you lose". When the opposite occurs, I am constantly reminded by the people around me that, "money will never make me happy".
I just don't understand what is so bad about wanting to escape the rat race! I feel like so many confuse the fact that being in the rat race doesn't define one's failure to succeed. Success is a very ambiguous word that can only be defined though the ambitions of the individual.
Knowledge Is Key!
There is no wrong or right way to live your life, but I personally get sick when I see our elderly working minimum wage jobs because our broken system coupled with the lack of financial intelligence failed them.
My mother claims that she has lived a wonderful life because she had the opportunity to become an amazing mom and made enough money to provide for us and travel. The reality of her situation is that she doesn't have much saved up for her to retire with and she is going to have to depend on her contributions to social security bearing fruit in the later part of her life.
I hate the idea of depending on a government system that is honestly doomed to fail, to take care of my expenses when I am too old to provide for myself. I would rather sacrifice now, and invest in passive revenue streams that will build wealth for generations to come.
Let me know what you think about this topic below. Until next time, this has been a message from your friendly neighborhood #spiderblogger!

I think people tend to take wild and imbalanced swings in their views of wealth, some shake their fists with rage at anyone who's made it in life, some get wealthy and horde and give their whole being to staying wealthy/accumulating more... Wealth seems to change them from bad to worse.
If I ever really succeed, I'd want to:
A) Guard wealth because I may never get a second chance...
but
B) Live knowing that riches are VERY temporary and not let greed master me... to give back reasonably where I can.
This was a great point!
I think wealth just exaggerates who you already are. If you are a giving person, then you will sacrifice on a larger scale. If you are an asshole, then you will just become a bigger asshole.
This is huge! Money does really change people if they forget that it is just a tool and let it use them, instead of them using it.
I think the biggest challenge is going to be empowering them with not just money, but the knowledge and discipline it took to make it!
I think all of us dont necessarily want to be rich, but we all want us and our loved ones to have a chance to live a life in a way that money is not a boundary for us.
As in..when you are 70 years old, that you can say: i did everything what I wanted to do in life with pride
Rich associates me with stupid behavior. Spending cash on nothing and making stupid choices. Wealthy means more to me like..no cash flow issues
This is a great point! There is no meaning in building wealth if you had to walk over countless people to get it. If they just talk about how much money I made on my death bed, then I failed the people I care about the most.
Exactly! You got my point :)
No one should judge you at all!!! In a perfect world "money" as we know it probably wouldn't be a thing, like we'd all live in abundance and share. But knowing we need money, nobody should judge you for wanting it.
In the world as it is now, money is often correlated with doing the things you like and are passionate about anyways.
In the cryptographic future maybe you get reputation points or something for doing the things you're passionate about or for correctly speculating on future trends etc. In this world you get money; smh.
Oh for sure it's insane how people who were told about Bitcoin at $5 can think it's insane of you to not sell at $1000, and then rinse and repeat next cycle, and they somehow think they're the voice of reason the whole way thru, like they somehow lose track of the fact that it's gone up 200,000% and they've been bearish the whole time.
Like I thought when Bitcoin was clearly "a thing", people would have to be like whoaaa, I'm shocked, let's reassess things, but they find ways to rationalize and not have to shake up their view of things too much.
I think it's like a combo of jealousy and wanting the world to work as they imagine
Absolutely. That's kind of the thing, like philosophical considerations aside, it just isn't gonna last forever and that our generation will be paid out in the end.... isn't something I'd want to bank on.
People think of that as "security" when actually it seems absurdly reckless lol.
Funny how backwards it is.
I almost wish you would have made a post with this comment!
I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain the natural cycles of Bitcoin, and that us early adopters are still very much ahead even after these major crashes.
I'm very optimistic because it seems like Steem is holding really strong around the high $1 range, which means we are all still in the green!
I think 2018 is going to be a great year for those of us who've been in this space a long time because no matter how long this bear market lasts, we are going to hold strong because we've seen this cycle occur so many times!
yup!! It's amazing how their minds work. Like I actually wouldn't have thought people were capable of it.. just kind of a kindergarten concept that if it goes up 10x and then drops 60% it still went up lol.
It's "winter" season right now! Hopefully spring time comes in 2019 if not later this year.
