A LETTER TO DEAR HUMANITY (continuation)
Good evening steemians,
This open letter started yesterday and you can read the first part of the Letter Here
Now in continuation.
Did you know that there is more genetic variation in the average chimpanzee troop than among the 7 billion people that live on the earth today?
Well, Researchers believe and also made us believe that this is because human beings were once on the verge of extinction and also that the current world population descended from a few survivors.
This fact then forces us to be modest in the way we do things and handle them, and Actually, it's a miracle that we're here.
So Physically speaking, compared to many animals, humans are a surprisingly fragile creatures.
You will ask me why? When other animal enters the world naked, screaming and obiously helpless, and to top it, they are easy prey of any predator that comes along.
Not convinced? Ok another scenerio, A newborn lamb can walk and take her steps in a few hours; but then, It takes a human child about a year to stand on their own feet.
Other animals have specific senses, organs and reflexes that definitely allow them to survive in specific environments, but you are not naturally equipped for any particular habitat.
However, this apparent weakness has also proven to be a fortress that allows you to expand from the savannah to the North Pole, the ocean floor and the moon.
That obviously is a unique achievement
Some people even go as far to think that you must go beyond the earth and populate the universe
Well, In itself, that's a good idea, if only to avoid being eliminated someday when a massive meteor hits the planet.
That would be a shame if you ask me. But However, to be honest, I think it's a bit early for me to seek refuge in other worlds.
Well, First of all, let's try to solve some problems on our planet of origin.
Reason why we need to do this is Because it has to be said that its presence on earth has caused problems:
I mean problems like
- global warming
- deforestation
- decrease in biodiversity
- plastic in the oceans
- ionizing radiation
You will agree with me that It is enough to depress a person.
This leads me to say that: sometimes it seems you do more harm than good
I often find people who believe that the planet would be better if you were not here.
Sincerely, I hope not to offend you when saying this but then I gotta say this dear humanity.
I feel obligated to tell you that there are those who distrust you, despise you or simply hate you because they think you are ruining the planet.
But then, I also need you to know that I am not one of them because I have always had trouble understanding that misanthropy because, ultimately, it is a form of self-deprecation.
