2018 has arrived and even gone half way across the year, mass publicity of crypto currency much more than the AWAKENING in 2017 we've seen the birth of so many cryptos ranging over 1600 currencies and several blockchains, rise and crash of most currencies and as well as those whom have played their way to the gallery of wealth via the Bitcoin burst in December, 2017.

Still, amidst this whole party and backdrop(or bubble as many tends to refer to it),Its no surprise that the most part of the world population are yet to know about it and even those who have probably heard about it still find it hard to understand, or fully grasp the whole concept of it.

Crypto investment can be entirely confusing and may sound like a very complex math to most people hearing about it for the first time as it completely differs from the traditional investing schemes, such as stocks, franchising, real estates or hedge bonds. Before going into the whole concept of how to invest in cryptos or why invest in cryptos it is of great essence to first know the meaning of crypto currencies.

WHAT ARE CRYPTOCURRENCIES??
A cryptocurrency can be defined as a digital or virtual currency designed to work as a medium of exchange. It uses cryptography to secure and verify transactions as well as to control the creation of new units of a particular crypto-currency. Essentially, cryptocurrencies are limited entries in a database that no one can change unless specific conditions are fulfilled.

In the early days of crypto, its basic use and function was just merely as a means of decentralised anonymous exchange and/or payment as in the case of Bitcoin, however in recent times there have been a constant development and enhancement in the utilization of crypto and blockchain technology in solving real life problems, such as Ethereum for decentralized apps and smart contracts, stellar lumen for multi currency transactions, wepower for solar and electricity supply,the list goes on..... we find out that most cryptos of recent are tied to a certain company of which has a specific purpose and functionality.

This article was written for a friend specially and i thought of sharing with the general public as some other persons may find it really helpful, In this article, I will try my best to breakdown the complexity of crypto-currency investments in the simplest possible way i can as well as the safest way to participate in it.
Without much ado, if you reading this post you must have heard about Bitcoin or probably its been flashing on the trending news or seen one or two articles about it on social media and probably wondering how best do i get into this trend and invest in it.

Great decision you've made, however, i would tell you investing in bitcoin now may not do you much good than investing in some of the alts coins(alternate coins those cryptocurrencies aside bitcoin), i will give my reasons later on or you could read this article here>> for an indepth explanation.

There are three(3) basic ways of investing in cryptos, either you are hodling, partaking in ICOs or trading in the crypto market via exchanges, if you are looking for the easiest method to take i'd honestly tell you that none is easy as they all have their various hurdles and challenges, however HODLING is the most common and advisable way of investing in cryptos as at now.

1. HODL:
I bet you've been seeing this trending and probably wondering what it means or if its been spelt wrong, actualy HODL simply refers to the word HOLD, but in the crypto ecosystem we call it HODL,( it originated when a young bitcoin enthusiast mistakenly spelt the word hold wrongly in the bitcointalk forum and ever since then the new correct word has been HODL. sounds more cool doesnt it, hahahaha).

In Hodling, an investor purchases a certain cryptocurrency of choice with the hope of it appreciating in value over a long period of time based on his analysis and belief the coin or project, after which on maturity of the token he sells it with a higher gain and return of investments.

Taking bitcoin as popular example, an investor who invested 100$ in bitcoin in the year 2011 while the price was just 1$/BTC would have purchased 100BTC for just 100$ and then hodl his bitcoin in his private wallet for the next 5years or probably 6years, when bitcoin had appreciated to about 600$/bitcoin in the month of july 2016, the investor would have profited 60,000% of his investment which would have made his 100$ or 100BTC worth over $60,000, now thats a massive return of investment, you can imagine what he would have earned if he waited 6years when bitcoin appreciated over 19000$/BTC that would have been a whooping $1,900,000++

However, Hodling is not really easy, as it takes a lot of discipline and patient, i can bet you a whole lot of those who bought bitcoins in 2011 or earlier sold their bitcoin when it appreciate to 30$ or probably those with high perseverance waited till 100$, not everyone really can wait for long. Still its a rewarding returns of investment.

Like i said earlier investing in bitcoin to HODL as at now might not be the best decision to make as several alts coins with great prospective and projects have risen in recent times. As an investor the major aim of investing is to make profit and a reasonable reward from your investment, and you would also agree with me that one doesnt invest in an already established project but rather on project with future prospectives.

Though Bitcoin is still an appreciative asset and still with alot of future potentials of reaching higher amount, some say $50,000 before the year ends, some propose it reaching as high as 1million$ per BTC, if it will attain these height or not i cant really say if you read my previous articles as regarding the future of crypto and blockchain you would understand why i believe it probably wont get so high, probably may reach $50,000 or maybe $100,000 but i dont see it going anywhere above that(though nothing is impossible).

Now lets take an example, say one purchases 1bitcoin currently for 6300$ and HODL for a couple of 2-5years, let say that bitcoin appreciates as high as 50,000$ or maybe 63,000$/BTC his total return of investment would be roughly 1000% i.e $58,000on the other hand lets say an investor invests that same amount of money in an alts coin such as STEEM, he invests 6000$ in steem at the rate of $1.3/STEEM that would be rough est.. of about 7800 STEEM Tokens, now lets assume also in a space of 2-5years the steem token appreciates to about 130$ that would be 10,000% growth and the investor would make a rough est... of about $1,014,000 MILLION dollars..

LOL, hahhahaa too good to be true right and you may think this is impossible, let me shock you, RIPPLE grew from $0.004/XRP in DECEMBER 2015 to 4$/XRP in JANUARY 2018 thats 100,000% growth... Ethereum did great as well... so think again which did yield more profit BITCOIN or the alts coins... Dont be deceived with the big figures of Bitcoins focus more on the percentage reward 20,000$ was looking big to everyone in the year 2017 for bitcoin but 4$ looked really small to most people, however more profit was made from ripple than any other crypto currency ever.. DIG THAT.....
This secret and eye opening am sharing with you right now worth millions dont take overlook it.....

2. ICO INVESTING:

This is another means of investing in cryptos, its a process in which investors forecast the future of a project based on its fundamentals and hype thereafter invest in the project at a discounted price known as the INITIAL COIN OFFERING (in stocks refered to as initial public offering) with the hope of it appreciating to a great height after the release of the token to the general public and crypto market the investor thereafter pulls back his capital and overall returns from the investment.

This is a risky investment method, as in some cases investors are exposed to fraudulent acts, we've seen alot of fraudulent ICOs and i personally have been victimized as well, though due to the recent ICO regulations and checks there have been a reduced case of frauds, however, investing in with this method requires detailed research and fundamentals on the particular project or crypto of choice.

3. TRADING:
Trading the crypto market is similar to that of forex trading where a trader purchases a currency at a lower rate to sell at a higher value, crypto trading is done on exchangers or brokers in terms of the futures on BTC, crypto trading requires alot of technical and fundamental knowledge in making market/chart analysis and price speculations.

However, there are various telegram channels which offers crypto signals such as hitech forex and crypto signals(join via the link) in which traders without the basic technical knowledge just copy the trades from professionals who do the analysis and charting.
This is also a great way to grow your satoshi (units of bitcoins) or fiat value while still HODLING your top coins.
There are various crypto exchangers on which trading can be done however the most popular and more of higher funds security are Binance, Kucoin, Huobi, Bithumb, Poloniex, OKex, HitBTC, Coinbene and some others.

I hope this was clear enough as i did my best to ensure i broke down all terms to the simplest possible way anyone can understand.
