Un perro de rastreo más liviano Esta raza, originaria de la región de Ariège, en Francia, es el resultado del cruce entre el Beagle francés y un perro de caza con gran sentido del olfato, posiblemente el Gran Sabueso Azul de Gascuña o el Gascón Saintongeois. Tiene todas las características típicas de un perro de rastreo, aunque con menor distinción, tamaño y pesadez. Un preciado ayudante Se utiliza para la caza con escopeta y como sabueso en cacerías, es muy apreciado por su tamaño y las habilidades que despliega, tanto cuando actúa solo como en jauría, así como por su maniobrabilidad en terrenos difíciles.
