El significado de los nombres (parte II) / The meaning of names (part II)
Hola, en el artículo anterior describí un poco de lo que refiere el diccionario de nombres propios del autor German Flores y la razón por la cual decidimos ubicar este libro para escoger los nombres de nuestros mellizos;
He comentado que tanto mi esposo y yo hemos tenido problemas con la forma en que algunas personas escriben nuestros nombre y no queríamos que esto sucediera con el nombre de nuestros hijos, para ello quisimos que sus nombres fueran cortos sin tanta rimbombancia, muy básicos y que no se repitieran de otro familiar o que fueran de la unión del nombre del papá con el de la mamá y la abuela más el abuelo , no nada de eso, si el papá se llama Edgar y al niño le poníamos Edgar le iban a decir eguita (horrible jajaja), y si le colocábamos mi nombre a la niña le iban a decir rocita (más horrible aún jajaja).
Pues bien hicimos una lista de por lo menos 26 nombres para la niña, y no nos decidíamos, depuramos esa lista y la llevamos a Diez nombres, buscamos en el diccionario de nombres propios su significado, a la que redujimos a 5 nombres, existía una premisa por parte de mi esposo la niña llevaría el nombre de la Virgen de la Candelaria y a mí me parecía muy fuerte ese nombre para una niña, pero como Candelaria es una advocación de la Virgen Maria decidimos que su primer nombre iba a ser María, muy común, sin embargo en nuestra familia ese nombre no se repite, llegado el momento de combinar con el segundo nombre y sonaba Antonieta; María Antonieta (nombre de reina)
Buscando en el diccionario de los nombres propios el autor comenta que: “ a veces, los padres ponían a sus hijos de parientes vivos o muertos; los judíos solo el de antepasados muertos. Pero esta costumbre evoca en algunos pueblos espíritus malignos: entre los goajiros, mencionar el nombre de un muerto ante los miembros de una familia puede ser un delito que a veces se castiga con la muerte. En ciertas tribus de Australia y América del Norte, si alguien muere, todos los que tienen el mismo nombre se lo cambian… “

Evaluando los párrafos antes descritos y con el nombre de María Antonieta sobre la mesa revisamos quien fue María Antonieta en la historia. María Antonieta fue una archiduquesa de Austria y reina consorte de Francia y de Navarra. fue juzgada, condenada por traición y guillotinada el 16 de octubre de 1793 (le cortaron la cabeza), o sea ese nombre no era para mi niña nooooo, y saltamos al siguiente nombre en la lista, Isabella, pero una vecina que estaba embarazada ya tenía ese nombre para su hija, iban a haber dos niñas con el mismo nombre en la misma cuadra, entonces se quedó como Isabel, su significado según el diccionario de los nombres propios es: Dios es mi perfección¨, más perfecto no puede ser el nombre de mi hija que evoca a la madre de Dios y traduce la perfección de Dios. María Isabel se llama nuestra princesa.
Para nuestro niño no fue tan difícil la escogencia del nombre dado que, un día mi madre me dice si en algún momento ustedes tienen un varón deberían llamarlo Diego Felipe, porque tu esposo nació en San Diego y tú en San Felipe, y así fue el bebé desde la barriga ya tenía nombre. Diego significa: Nombre propio de España que, según algunos, es deformación de Santiago y significaría ¨el que tiene una planta¨. Felipe significa en griego ¨amigo de los caballos¨, espero que mi hijo cuando sea grande tenga muchas matas y muchos caballos en un buen terreno propio jajajaja.
Presentamos hace años a nuestros hijos a un buen amigo que ya está entrado en años y es de origen Canario y ha dicho ¡Vaya nombres más castizos no pueden ser ¡.
