La leyenda del bombón

Se dice que la palabra “bombón” viene del siglo XVIII, cuando el rey Luis XIV come por primera vez frutas bañadas en chocolate. Al gustarle tanto dice “bon,bon” lo quequiere decir “bueno, bueno” en francés, desde allí todos le comienzan a decir así y comienza a ser vendido como “bombón”
Que historia peculiar ¿crees que sea verdad?
Desde entonces en muchos lugares de Europa se consumía chocolate, cualquiera podía hacerlo, desde la gran nobleza, hasta la gente humilde. Se dice que cada día que pasaba se necesitaban más barcos con cacao para abastecer a los europeos que comían chocolate en su día a día, casi como el agua. El cacao fue el “negocio del siglo”, incluso lo sigue siendo.
Ahora, todo este relato me hace pensar en Venezuela, pues la historia de la economía colonial estuvo fuertemente influenciada primero por el cultivo del cacao, y después del café, en aquel entonces hubo momentos de prosperidad, hasta que comenzamos a depender másque todo de los hidrocarburos y convertirlos en nuestro primer producto de exportación.
