Todo el amor que puedas tenerle a tu enfermo no basta si no entiendes lo que está pasando. Espero que plasmando aquí preguntas comunes que surgen en el día a día ayudar a quienes estén pasando por la difícil tarea de cuidar a un enfermo de Alzheimer.

¿QUE ES LA ENFERMEDAD DE ALZHEIMER?
En pocas palabras podemos decir que es el tipo más común de demencia. Así de simple.
Demencia es un desorden progresivo de las funciones intelectuales superiores tales como el lenguaje y otras habilidades cognitivas. Incluye una serie de síntomas que deterioran el razonamiento y afectan las actividades de la vida diaria. Existen varias demencias. Estas son algunas:
- Enfermedad de Alzheimer
- Demencia vascular
- Demencia fronto-temporal (o Enfermedad de Pick)
- Demencia por cuerpos de Lewy
- Demencia en la Enfermedad de Parkinson
- Demencia multi-infarto
- Enfermedad de Binswanger
La enfermedad de Alzheimer es una demencia degenerativa, se produce de forma progresiva y gradual. Afecta a todos los grupos de la sociedad, no respeta género, grupo étnico, es más común entre personas mayores pero también puede afectar a los no tan mayores.
