Cada sonrisa es un milagro para mi.
Mi nombre es Chiquinquira y trabajo junto a un grupo de Jóvenes en una ONG llamada Nuevos Horizontes (puedes encontrarla en Facebook como Nuevos Horizontes para más información). Dicha organización, entre muchas áreas a las que se dedica, una de ellas es el área dedicada a la niñez. ¿ Por qué los niños? ¿Por qué mejor los jóvenes, o adultos?
Creo firmemente que los niños no son el futuro de un país sino el presente.
...Por lo tanto, el futuro de un país esta en las manos de los niños del hoy. Por esta razón decidimos invertir tiempo, comodidad, dinero, para enseñarles a estos pequeños que un país puede ser levantado desde los principios del amor, de la honestidad. Decidimos enseñarles que hay algo más por lo cual vivir, que pueden expandir sus horizontes, que pueden soñar en grande si ellos mismos se lo permiten.
Ellos viven en un contexto donde matar es normal, donde robar es un juego, y donde ser mamá a los 13 años es signo de madurez. Hemos sido amenazados para no seguir enseñando la Palabra de Dios a estos chicos. Pero nada puede detener que estos pequeños reciban su enseñanza semanal. Por eso seguimos en pie, pues ellos son quienes levantarán mi país (Venezuela), el cual aunque hoy se encuentra en oscuridad, aun hay un rayo de esperanza!

My name is Chiquinquira and I work with a group of youth in an NGO called Nuevos Horizontes= New Horizons. (you can find it on Facebook as Nuevos Horizontes for more information). This organization, among many areas to which it is dedicated, one of their areas is dedicated for children. Why children? Why dont you work with young people, or adults? People is used to ask.
I firmly believe that children are not the future of a country but the present.
Therefore, the future of a country is in the hands of the children of today. For this reason we decided to invest time, comfort, money, to teach these little ones that a country can be raised from the principles of love, of honesty. We decided to teach them that there is something else to live for, that they can expand their horizons, that they can dream bigger if they allow themselves.
They live in a context where killing is normal, where stealing is a game, and where being a mother at 13 years old is a sign of maturity. We have been threatened not to continue teaching the Word of God to these children. But nothing can stop these little ones from receiving their weekly teaching. That is why we are still standing, because they are the ones who will raise my country (Venezuela), which although today is in darkness, there is still a ray of hope!
