Hernán Cortés y La Malinche
Malinalí, conocida como La Malinche, fue un personaje significativo en la conquista de México. Malinche, despreciada por su madre desde niña, crece al lado de su abuela aprendiendo maya y la lengua indígena nahuatl. Al morir ésta, es vendida por su madre como esclava. Pasa por varios “dueños” hasta ser regalada a Hernán Cortés. Debido a su conocimiento de la lengua de los mexicas, hace de intérprete entre éstos y los conquistadores. A esta mujer se le acusa históricamente de haber entregado a su pueblo a cambio de su amor, es decir, se enamoró perdidamente del conquistador del cual ella fue aprendiz, esclava, amante y que tuvo un papel fundamental en la conquista.
