Service Scam Comments
What are service scam comments?
This is when an account leaves a comment in reply to another user claiming to have performed a service such as up-voting, flagging, or re-steeming but does not follow through with the action.
Sometimes these accounts are doing this deliberately to garner up-votes for their phony project or imitating one of my favorite furry friends @cheetah. I recently blacklisted two accounts for this.
Other times it is someone trying to start a new initiative and don't have the resources to follow through.
In the end the reason why an account doesn't follow through doesn't matter if they continue to comment. These accounts, in my opinion, are spamming and scamming the community.
@holl.boll
The comments left by @holl.boll indicate that they are supporting the author of the post and up-voting.
wow
I will support you,upvoted
You all have good news from me that you work with me so you can earn a lot of money but you do alone
So you have taken a lot of time like you did not even mind afterwards, speaking in this for the sake of doing mill work, we can earn a lot of money in one month.
If you want to contact me, send me a whatspap number message.=======9737525233===========
In the past 7 days @holl.boll left 1,264 comments and only upvoted 189 posts or comments. 99 of those up-votes were for @holl.boll and 90 were for other Steemains. I didn't do more than a spot check but it looks like they are not up-voting many if any accounts they leave this particular comment on.
@cheeth, @steemitmore, @yogafitness
These are just a few of the accounts that have tried to imitate @cheetah or other initiatives.

🙝 Spaminator Artwork by @atopy 🙝 Who are The Spaminators?
Ah yes-- I come across these comments quite often, particularly when I am looking for quality content from newcomers. Seems they are often made to look "semi official" and like they are part of some "welcome wagon" but some kind of fishing expedition for upvotes.
"Hi, welcome to Steemit! This is the minnow supporting welcome to Steemit minnow welcome crew welcoming you to Steemit. Your upvote on this comment will help us continue to be able to provide this service to all newcomers...."
WHAT service? WHAT "welcome crew?" Who ARE these people.
nice post, I voted you, you follow back yeah? I got big follows (just kidding) good work @spaminator. It's healthy to see someone tackling the hideous nature of upspamming (100% upvoted by @outerground.)
And Another Thing !
I've been thinking recently.. something that came from faceduck originally.. is it rude to comment but not like ? In steemit's case, is it rude to comment but not upvote? YES IT IS ! I also think not enough people upvote great comments ! (not that I'm fishing or anything) but you know when someone says something, meaningful, opens up the discussion, even has the good manners to require paragraphs and uses them.
Adds a bit of markdown
and then tops it off with a tasty and appropriate gif as if the user was weebo from flubber. (If you got that last reference, you're cool and old or a real sci-fi comedy, Robin Williams fan, film geek.)
I will say 99% of the time you are correct when it comes to up-voting posts you comment on. As long as it isn't abuse I think that even if you are just giving advice on formatting or something a small up-vote is in order unless the post/account absolutely has no value. That's why sliders were created!
I like markdown when it isn't excessive and doesn't make the comment longer than the average post. :)
Your comment brings to mind something I want to do with @spaminator. Find a way to run a contest to encourage users to have a conversation. I just haven't figured out how yet. Or maybe I have...
I'm thinking I could create a post once a week with a topic for minnows, tadpoles really, to discuss the topic in comments - even if it leads to an off topic discussion. I also want to encourage them to use any language.
At the end of the week, after post payout, pick some of the comments that are the best conversation starters - provided the account hasn't comment spammed in the last 30 days - and provide them a small reward based on the payout of the post. I hope that we can get the participants to up-vote each other as well to encourage more conversation!
Sometimes comments like yours bring me some pretty good ideas! Thanks!
Good reply & (thanks for the reply). I think that's a really good idea and on that might just work. If you dangle a carrot, even a very small one, people try to use their mind a bit more to get the juicy treats.
let me know how you get on with it. I'm not sure how you will roll it out but most things pick up pace if it's useful and this could be a good way to encourage tadpoles to get involved, learn and possibly grow a leg or 2 ;)
I agree, 99% of the time an upvote with a comment.. or even a comment upvote.. as long as it's upspamming

GOOD LUCK @spaminator
I have ideas for getting people involved, I just lack the resource / incentive to kick start the process.
:-(
@patrice, you might consider touching bases with @merej99 who organized and ran the very successful "Community Engagement Challenge" a couple of months back-- 10 days of monster levels of engagement, creativity, posting, commenting, voting. I think we actually had one post that reached 700+ comments "in dialogue." Part of what made it cool was that we also had a fair number of dolphins involved... so newcomers got to experience "fair rewards" for well crafted comments.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check with them when I get a chance.
Strongly disagree. Upvotes are a very limited resource, specially to those who rely on steemit as a source of income. If I'm going to be seen as rude just because I can't upvote something, is it really better to not even comment? That's irrealistic at best.
that's quite amazing. a reply to a dead thread which is nearly a year old ! (unrealistic would be the correct usage here.)
Well... yes, and yes-but. When I were a wee minnow here you could cast a LOT more votes before draining your voting power. Today-- if I had 100SP and were feeling ambitious and wanted to leave 40-50 meaningful comments per day as a path to building a following... I'd have ZERO voting power in short order. Now if you're a little further along on the curve... I agree 100%. Pretty much ALL of us can afford a 5% upvote on content we cared enough about to leave a comment.
I see what you mean !! @denmarkguy. building a footprint perhaps is more important to wee minnows than draining your voting power. If your votes are worth a substantial amount then maybe you are more careful. if they're not, then perhaps just voting and commenting are worth more.. (I tend to 100% upvote things I really like) and I've started upvoting comments more ! which I think is a bit of a neglected area :)
Thanks for all your hard work! xo I appreciate you!!
Thanks for your support!
Nice post. Resteemed.
Thanks for the Resteem!
Good work. I hate those ones the most, it's so disingenuous
I totally agree.
Here is an account to take a peek at. 4 posts with little to no value, upvoted with all of the upvoting bots... https://steemit.com/@solarsherpa
I've given each post a flag, if anyone else wants to help recoup some of the rewards, feel free
I flagged at 100% and took a couple of sbd off the scam account.
I thought i just can @tag steemcleaners when seeing something fishy
Unfortunately mentions or tagging doesn't work as well for us now with the number of time @steemcleaners is mentioned. We may not see it.

Hi, and how is called when someone for example make a contest (In this case a whale) Make clear rules and the Winners are his/her friends and didn't respected the rules and with this Post have made hundred of earnings too? and even the friends Win. I'm so angry with that! People must be respected for their Work! Agrrrrrr so Angry!
Hey! I like your post. This one is a quality post. Expect many more such informative posts from you. Would you please take some time to explain the dos and donots of steemit? That will definitely help new steemians like me. Thanks a lot for sharing this post.
Good work! There are lots of scams out there.
