I remember when people were crying because EPA money was being removed and Homeland Security etc.... I have had interactions with the EPA meddling in construction projects that I was doing and they come by with a checklist of absolutely absurd stuff that we have to get permits for, things that have nothing to do with erecting a structure on top of land such as testing the soil for contamination levels etc (all at our own expense of course).... When talking with one of these EPA guys at a bar he revealed to me that he agrees that most of what they do is completely useless and that their organization routinely wastes money on stuff that doesn't need to be done because this is how they are insured their budget for the following year.

And we wonder (well, I don't wonder and neither do you I bet) why we are 24 trillion in debt.
