ISRO - A Name With Achievement

The Golden Goose in the space race. The ever so silent competitor which has literally crept to the top of the pyramid. One of the most efficient space agencies in the world ever is Indian Space Research Organization. ISRO doesn’t send one satellite in one flight it seems. Last year on February 15, ISRO sent 104 satellites in a single flight in which 101 satellites were of foreign countries. This year on January 12, ISRO again achieved a milestone in which it launched the 100th Indian satellite in space. Obviously, it wasn’t done alone; it launched 31 satellites in which 28 satellites were foreign.

For a country which brought its first satellite on a bullock-cart, it’s an enormous achievement.

It is quite a remarkable turnaround for the ISRO and it is quite evident that they want to become the undisputed choice to send satellites into space. To put that into perspective, India’s Mars Orbiter Mission had a cost of around $74 Million which is only 11% of NASA’s own Mars Mission. Everyone will look for a cheaper alternative to send their satellites into space and ISRO seems to be creating a niche for the same.
