They can surely achieve more with a bigger budget but I don't think that amount of money would increase the returns by the same amount. There is a point where there are actually diminishing returns on investment.

We've privatized NASA. It's now a market, so there are, magically, no more diminishing returns...

A hundred billion dollars to NASA would be a fivefold increase. Currently, the NASA budget is 10 days of military spending or about 1.5 Aircraft carriers.

It's an absurdly low number, IMO, and we'd get some amazing returns on a couple hundred billion on NASA per year rather than bombs or floating aquatic fortresses.

I don't think that's possible. Technology doesn't work like that. If you increased the funding by 100 times, I don't think we could achieve 100 years of technological progress within 1 year. At some point, there are diminishing returns to money invested.

You don't think what's possible? A switch in focus from space war to space peace? Says who?

And who is talking about 100 years forward in 1 year?

It is just a matter of focus. There is not enough focus on space, especially in comparison to war.

What isn't dwarfed by war spending? Too bad there are not diminishing returns for that shit.
