Ukraine and Israel are not too dissimilar.

Leftists: Putin's argument is absurd. Ukraine has been invaded and populated by Slavs, Greeks, Mongols, Poland, Austrians, Tartars, Russians in recorded history. When Stalin was in power, he effectively enslaved the Ukrainians and they resisted. The country has a long history of independence from Russia.

Me: Umm, of course you're right there. It's kinda like the whole thing with the Palestinian claims to Israel. Jerusalem in particular has seen many shifts in power, demographics, and ownership over centuries. Jews and Muslims both lived in that region for well more than a millennium. The Jews had been in that region for a thousand years before Muhammad was born. There's really no legitimate claim to Israeli territory from the Palestinians if we use that logic.
