Life Is Too Short To Deal With Apathy
"Life is too short to deal with apathy, because feeling sorry isn't for me. I'm not feeling sorry." - Abandoned Interstate
These words ring loud in my ears, as this is one of my top 3 favorite songs. Of all time. Not only are the words 99.99% true, it is compelling in it's honesty and sincerity to the listener.
I'm highly intrigued by the way Brandon articulates his words. I encourage you to listen to the song "Hitting Targets, " by Abandoned Interstate.
It can change your life over and over again if you open your heart to understand it's meaning, as I did.
Enough about the song itself. What the hell does that quote mean!? I know, right.
It's one of those things that completely changes your perspectives. Let's begin with Apathy.
Apathy definition by Merriam Webster: Lack of feeling or emotion. Dealing with apathy is like dealing with a baby. It's not that they lack feelings and emotions, it's that they have a very limited spectrum of them. This spectrum can range from happy to sad. And that seems to be about it, right? I mean, curious, sure. But that's not an emotion, per say.
Pity is a hell of an emotion. Even the word itself has the name "pit" in it. Like the pit of a hole that you can't get out of. Even a muddy pit your tire got stuck in, now you've gotta do extra work to keep moving forward. Pity not only takes absolute control over your being, it asks you to take on others' beings, as well.
Woah.
So what's the trick? How do I avoid getting caught up in apathy or pity for others and myself?
I don't know. Just thought I'd share my thoughts.
