U.S. Solar Power News...You Were Right Americanhomestead!
After reading a blog post from several weeks ago by Zac over @mericanhomestead about why U.S. Solar power companies are going bankrupt https://steemit.com/dtube/@mericanhomestead/fdjvs7zz ) I found it very interesting that a few weeks later the International Trade Commission (ITC) has declared that U.S. Solar Power industry has unfairly suffered from too many cheap foreign imports ( https://www.ft.com/content/e457c1ea-9fac-11e7-8cd4-932067fbf946 ).
Now the next move will be to President Trump, will he hit China with steep trade tarifs to save the U.S. Industry? Only time will tell.
Zac, I wonder if the ITC are reading your post? :)
Another issue for the U.S. Solar industry is how states treat the solar industry. I know in Oklahoma we rank pretty close to the bottom when it comes to the use of solar power. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association this year we are 47th, which is an improvement of 1 position from 2016 when we were 48th in the nation...it is also assessed that Oklahoma only gets about 0.02 % of its total electricity from solar (https://www.seia.org/state-solar-policy/oklahoma-solar). Yes, pretty pathetic..but we are beholden to big gas and oil. But if the state would provide more incentive and the solar power industry might do better in Oklahoma.
