Gender equality in India with respect to ancient thought.

in #society7 years ago (edited)

In India gender equality was well pronounced in ancient time .But in modern time it faces lots of challenges , because of nature of modern era and natural laws .In ancient times a Girl was able to select her partner ,through swyamver with some logical barriers . In all aspects of life she was able to express her views without any hesitation or fear . Their voices had the power to be recognised, if it was based on truth. Gargi, Maitraiye,Lopamudra etc. These are the name of some women who revolutionized the society .Their Sutras, Suktas picking has powerful position in Vedas.like Viswamitra,Bishista Augushtya. Next phase of evolution in Puranas, women just placed more respectful position but with division of labor. now women were worshiped by society , one temple of women's genital organs still exist in Assam (kamrup)called the Kamakhya temple. It is of post Vedic period. When India had only civilized and educated people . they knew how to live with family and how to manage their lives socially, how to make social life happier. Then another period come that was 3 to 4 hundred years before Christ. This was the time when Indians felt threatend from Alexander the great . Chanakya (koutalya)wrote a book called ARTHSASTRA .In which he described women as tools for defeating enemy. After this the position of women gradually decreased And people just followed the trend to buy sell women as an asset. When Muslims attacked India they just wanted more and more women in their harams Indian people first time saw such brutal activity by any king. Gradually this was a normal practice for Indian rich society. So now trend changed,Indians now forgot their own History.they followed the trends of muslim kings. Now coming to the point , when India got freedom in 1947.Women also got freedom but due to Hindu muslim rivalries women cannot be appreciated properly .
