Interestingly, everyone at one time or more in their lives have been called new. Either they were new to a group or to an act. Now, how should you behave when you are new to a group.

In my experience, when you are new to a group, there are certain things expected of you and certain things not expected. These expectations varies according to how you present yourself.

For a better positioning in the newbie game, it is important that you present yourself as a person who is intelligent in other fields but no little or nothing about the new field. With this excuse, you will be allowed to learn and make mistakes because tge expectation was low and if by any means you pass your expectations, which you are likely to, then its more to your credit.

So these are the things you should do

• Be quiet most of the times, you don't want to disclose much about yourself
• Speak up only formally and crawl back into your shell to create an atmosphere of respect for yourself.
• choose your company silently, through observation
• Be prompt and precised
• When you are given a task, take it and FULFIL it, above or below your expectation it doesn't matter.
• Focus on group goals better than everyone else
• Don't be in a hurry to play with the big boys, take your time to know how to play.
• Finally, perform only below expectation once if you must, after your one chance, give your best. Otherwise it may be seen as a weakness.

The rules however differs when there are more than one newbie. When you have a partner who is also new to group, everything must accelerate. You don't want to be seen as the slowest to socialize or learn.

While you still focus on group rules and attempt to be be formal, crack some jokes or laugh heartily to one. When you are given a task, perform at your best, judgments are a little quicker when there is competition. Be and stay ahead.

This advice is mostly for those that doesn't stop for average anywhere.
