Make Sure The Justice Department Stops Using Private Prisons!

According to Mother Jones the Justice Department announced today that they plan to stop using private prisons. 

This is a huge win if they follow through on their promise!

The private prisons functionally have created a situation of modern slavery in which the prisoners are forced to generate profit for the prison companies working as modern slaves.

A large portion of the prisoners in these facilities are minorities who have nonviolent drug offenses. The sickest part of the whole thing is that the private prisons have a financial incentive to push as money of these disenfranchised people into the prison system as they can to keep their profits rolling in.

The fact that the Justice Department has said they will shut down the private prisons  is great, but as many people need to know about this news as possible in order to make sure the private prisons actually get shut down. Political talk is cheap, action is what we need.
