Liverpool vs Brighton

in #soccer6 years ago

Mohamed Salah scored a second half penalty as Liverpool saw off Brighton in a narrow 1-0 victory.
Liverpool start the game with a lot of passing. Seeing most of the ball possession but not creating any dangerous threats yet.
The Brighton defence is really strong and they keep on absorbing the pressure from Liverpool.
Liverpool might be dominating the game but Brighton are coping and dealing with them very well.
The game just seems to be at a stalemate, with Brighton defending and cancelling out Liverpool's attacking threat for the whole of the first half.
The tactics remain the same in the second half but Brighton are hit by a stroke of bad luck. Liverpool are awarded a penalty after Salah gets taken down while running into the box. Salah takes the spot kick and makes no mistake, blasting it to the back of the net to put Liverpool ahead.
Brighton stick to their defending game plan for most of the game, then launched a number of attacks in the late minutes trying to pull one back. They were just unlucky not to get a goal.
Liverpool manage to scrape through the game to claim a narrow 1 goal lead but it feels like it could have gone either way. With only a penalty kick separating both sides at the end.
The win now restores Liverpool's lead over Man City in the Premier League table to 7 points. An important win if they are to continue their Premier League run at the top.
