Burnley End Losing Streak With Victory Against West Ham

in #soccer6 years ago

Burnley claimed a much needed 3 points with a 2-0 victory against West Ham yesterday. A much needed win as Burnley had already suffered 3 consecutive defeats, including a 5-1 loss at the hands of Everton last time.
Chris Wood put Burnley in the lead, Ashley Barnes nodding the ball in his path and Wood doing the rest. Burnley increased their lead just after the half hour mark. Westwood sends a cross over to McNeil at the far post and McNeil goes on to score his first senior goal, a goal which he'll be happy about.
Before the half time break, McNeil could have scored another goal to increase his side's lead, but ended up steering the ball wide after receiving Barnes' cross.
Burnley kept the pressure on West Ham in the second half and had an opportunity to kill the game early in the half. Westwood played in Wood, but the striker managed to miss the ball with only the keeper to beat.
Although West Ham's performance improved in the second half, Burnley were able to keep a clean sheet and hold on to their 2 goal lead.
The win now puts Burnley in the 18th position above Fulham and level on points with 17th placed Southampton with 15 points each.
