Edward Snowden criticizes Bitcoin over privacy concerns: is it really anonimous?
Edward Snowden, the whistleblower who leaked NSA secret mass surveillance in 2013 and one of the most prominent digital privacy campaigners ever, has spoken out about Bitcoin and privacy coins in a virtual talk Ethereal 21 conference. Bitcoin’s privacy, Snowden explains, is “really terrible". 👨🏻💻

Snowden criticized especially Taproot, the new update awaited by Bitcoin core developers and their followers. Taproot will make it easier for observers to distinguish change from payment in a transaction. Also, the Lightning Network, which is readily advertised as improving Bitcoin’s privacy, is shenanigans in this regard, he says. 🕵️

Snowden eventually named a few cryptos which can guarantee more privacy than the mainstream ones in his opinion. The first is "Zcash", which is superior to all others with its “shielded addresses" and another great project is "Monero" even though there are some known privacy attacks on ring signatures. However, the problem with privacy coins is that they can be walloped by regulation. 👁️
