The Sndbox Plan to Onboard, Engage and Empower
Strategies for Creative Growth
Our goal is to provide resources for creative professionals and entrepreneurs to jump into Steemit and leverage blockchain tech for their practices. We want to approach this through multiple angles, both online and in-person.
Much of the @sndbox content moving forward will focus on how we achieve this and through what activities. One exciting challenge is how to apply the Steemit social structure to a variety of creative entities whether new members are independent freelancers, part of a startup team, or an established non-profit. Molding the Steemit platform to serve as a solution for these newcomers will require the collaborative dialogue of many fellow Steemians.
Beginning today, we’ll present each of our steps in this endeavor so that we can garner your critique and input. Not only do we want to encourage outsiders to come into this community, but we also want to make sure the way in which we on-board new members will provide a great benefit to all Steemians.
The Need for Physical Engagement
Offline, our strategy is to spearhead workshops and meetups in New York City. Our first step is to transform our Brooklyn workspace into a hub where anyone interested in blockchain tech and Steemit specifically can come to experience the wonders of the community first-hand. Last month we started The Creative Blockchain NYC group and we’ll be transforming that as the outlet for future programming.
We want to bring the message to the public. New York is a nexus of so many creative initiatives and coworking spaces where hundreds of thousands of innovative thinkers are compacted within a 10 mile radius. Taking advantage of our location - @sndbox will be developing workshops and lectures to promote the utilization of Steemit. It’s fairly straightforward to onboard individual accounts on Steemit as a personal blogging mechanism but the real challenge lies in systematically applying the technology or various organizational structures as well!
Steemit 101
Let’s tell it like it is - learning about Steemit and how to navigate its structure is a challenge. To absorb key words and bodies of knowledge concerning “blockchain” and “cryptocurrency” is a discouraging obstacle for the average person or organization today. All of us who are familiar with Steemit by this point can imagine all the grand possibilities and applications of the website in professional and personal settings. But if you’re on the outside, it’s very difficult to get to that point imaginatively.
As such, Sndbox will be producing and compiling a comprehensive but very accessible database of Steemit’s structure and use-cases. Much like the post on Tuesday, we’ll be releasing a weekly blog series that explains key technical components of the website, methodologies to make the most out of the platform, and programmatic applications of Steemit to various content-based disciplines. As the list grows, we’ll compile them to provide a one-stop resource.
A Collaborative Commons
Attract, coach and empower. We’re building a collaborative commons. In doing so, the greatest challenge is establishing trust within a brand new technology and smoothing out the steep learning curve every newcomer faces.
We’re excited to be diving in. It will be an exciting path forward! If you have any ideas or experiences, we would love to hear them. Thank you so much for your support.

Great idea, good luck, but I'll never go to NY or the USA for that matter.
Could you make a post about the 3 types of steem in the Wallet? I am new and don't know what that is all about.
Thanks for the support! We're actually preparing a post exclusively on how the wallet works for this coming Tuesday, be sure to visit again!
I would love to see a live stream of your NY workshops and meetups. That way you can reach millions, including me.
Thanks for the suggestion @gggreenhouse! We'll definitely try to pull it off during our next workshop!

Sndbox seems to hold a lot of promises... I will be looking out for more on this. Nice work on this so far. Upvote!
Thank you sir!
It is simultaneously uplifting and quite disheartening to read about this form of "geographical empowerment". It seems that, even on the internet, when you live in the hinterlands USA it is disadvantageous. Well, I hope that NYC doesn't take this opportunity for granted!
We'll be trying our best to nurture activities all around the US as well and will be looking for partners on that soon. Don't worry, we won't silo ourselves off in NYC!
Awesome to hear! Take my upvote!
