RE: The SteemMakerCoin - a Smart Media Token for SteemMakers
@drmake - this is an important post. I have thought quite a bit about they payment structure and schedule for Steemit. It is what it is & was set up well before I joined more than a month ago.
With the advent of #SMTs (hopefully soon) and #steemmakers, I believe that there should be a separate payment system for this new crypto token. In order to grow Steemit, we should be offered incentives or pay-for-action for doing certain things.
Say for bringing a new person to Steemmakers you should receive say 5 SMTs. If they make their first post, another 5 SMTs or whatever incentive is decided on. After each 7 days, of posting for the new Steemmaker- you should get additional SMTs or Steem Power.
Only for providing better incentives for people to join and post- we can really sky rocket the number of posters and activity on the platform.
We have what a couple of hundred thousand active users on Steemit? Reddit has 200+ million, we need some additional incentives to really bring large numbers of people to the Blockchain. Building the value of everything that we do on the platform to an even higher value. That is just my opinion.
Well, I'm not so sure if Steem needs rewards for creating an account. It is actually growing quite rapidly when you take the number of accounts. Steem is approaching now about a million user accounts.
Also, Reddit got 200+ Million of accounts without paying referral fees.
I see other issues that are limiting the growth at the moment.
Account creation takes forever! when I joined October 17 it was 5-7 days and now I know from other users that it is often more than 14 days. There is no need to pay for referrals if there is no technic to validate them in a timely manner.
Consuming Information on all the current platforms is to difficult. Having only Keywords to structure the information is technology from the year 2000. Reddit e.g. has Subcommunities, Facebook and Twitter have a personalized feed. To keep growing the Steem Frontends need to develop further to make it a lot easier for a user to consume information not just write them.
Good points - there definitely needs to be some upgrades done on Steemit. There are so many different platforms to get your message out: Steemit, DTube, Busy.org- there will definitely have to be a new system developed with new back end. Account creation takes too long- I agree. It took me 4-6 days before I was able to post.
