The cigarette relaxes me: everything wrong :-)

in #smoking7 years ago

Have you ever wondered why these very intelligent people that you meet daily are persevering in behaviors that hurt them, when they are informed, I would say very knowledgeable ... I am talking about hundreds of people who are wandering on the sidewalks at break time, against all odds, their poison packet in their hands - described as such: FUMER TEU - sucking greedily these deadly smokes (I do not care a bit - I belonged to the club of "smoking zombies" (yes, I'm mean) for over 20 years).

So why is it that these same people who would be able to break the pavement to protest against attacks on food security or a clean and pollution-free planet, these people are so stubbornly bad faith when it comes to cigarette.

Among all the misconceptions we have about the good reasons to continue smoking, one of the main leitmotiv is that in this stressful life, the cigarette relaxes and allows concentration . Moreover, it is very simple, as soon as we smoke a cigarette, phew, we breathe and decompress, we calm down and relax ... yes it's very clear (I remember very well these moments the).

And yes that's the big deal ... the one that we understand when we stopped and that described elsewhere Allen Carr in his book ... we must take the belief backwards ... this famous stress and relaxation if nice ... it's the diabolical trap of the cigarette. why do you relax when you smoke? Because you finally found your dose of nicotine :-) And why were you stressed? Because you are hooked and in the corner of your brain, for a while, a light was flashing , that of the countdown of the addiction claiming its dose ... and that's why the pressure goes up ... goes up .

So here's the secret : it's the cigarette that controls you and stresses you, and that's why you take a cigarette, that calms you down, but that raises the countdown ... you're in a hellish cycle that will only stop when nicotine withdrawal is done.

The second conditioning is behavioral: the nicotine (reward) induces reflexes typically Pavlovian - stimulus-response - personally when I sat in the sofa in front of the TV, I always lit a cigarette, ditto in front of the computer, else it's the phone.

The nicotine marks with a hot iron a rhythm of habits , gestures etc .. it is for this same reason that when I stopped, I took advantage of a move- in the new flat there would be no habits related to smoking.

Finally, I thought a long time in advance to find what I could replace - behaviorally - what brought me the cigarette. Curiously, it was a glass of water - a chance for me:-)

Today, I can tell you: I thought I would suffer for the rest of my life; I had prepared for a very long period of mourning and suffering, like I was going to eat my fist and tear my hair :-). Well no, not at all, he was right Allen Carr.

As soon as you leave the cycle (personally little by little with patches) jnicotino-dependent - and behavioral-dependent (go 4 months, good 6) - it's amazing! No stress, no suffering, on the contrary, we are so good, the energy recirculates, we look good, we feel good as it had not been the case for years, revived .. but why no one explains this .. all the former smokers I meet say the same thing ...

That's the last point, do it for yourself, when you feel like getting into you for a while, the idea that you do not like it that much, for a whole bunch of reasons that will be yours. This motivation is important and this phase is actually about mourning - I never said that I would reshuffle one - it was over ... over ... definitive, behind me ... I changed people, shore, I was coming back to life. And today I am happy.
