Even the photo barely shows cars from the other side of the street. I do not hide Smog in Poland there is a lot. However, the pictures come out very nice even with a mobile phone. I live in Warsaw where I can do such photos about 2 times a month. Smog is terribly harmful, but many people ignore this and make it worse.

Is smog harmful and how?
Smog is harmful. It contains toxic and carcinogenic substances. According to the European Union, over 40,000 people die from dying in Poland. people a year. Malaise, increased respiratory complaints, respiratory infections are symptoms that can occur right away.

Long-term exposure to smog increases the risk of cancer, respiratory, cardiovascular and immune diseases. The most dangerous for our health is benzo (a) pyrene - a carcinogenic chemical compound.

How is air quality measured in Poland?
The Environmental Protection Inspection collects data on air pollution from measurement stations located in individual cities. In larger cities, more than one measurement station often works.

In Poland, the level of seven substances in the air is measured. These are particulate matter PM10, particulate matter PM2,5, sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), benzene (C6H6) and ozone (O3). Based on the results of individual measurements, the so-called Polish Air Quality Index. It's a six-level scale. It can be: very good, good, moderate, sufficient, bad, very bad.

It is worth noting that Poland has a different scale regarding air quality than other European countries.
