Welcome to the Wasteland
I’ve been to a dumpster before, but never a landfill. The view, here, seemed so apocalyptic, I thought I’d share images:
And , then, after the putrid stench and bleak site of all our waste, this spot of Beauty:

The first two, without more obvious signs of human involvement, look as if they could be of an alien landscape. Still and almost monotonal, like those red-shaded pictures we get back from Mars. The implication of the stranded boat in the first is also very poignant.
The irony is it's not alien at all, it's us! Hell bent on becoming aliens on our own world.
That stranded boat did me in, a writing prompt if ever there was one. A metaphor, but for what?
‘Us! Hell bent on becoming aliens in our own world’. Thanks, got the prose poetry ✌🏼
It's striking for sure, but now I think about it I'm not sure exactly what it 'means' either. Water having ebbed away and left it sitting there, but of course there was no water in the first place. It's almost like wishful thinking, haha.
I think originally my mind went to climate change, but technically it would lift the boat in that case, not leave it stranded... A future evaporating away? There's so many places it could go really! (not literally) :)
Well water is life... abandoned boat means no life... natural order upset, humanity marooned (or wiped out). Apocalypse, now. Not, exactly “energetic with optimism” :)
Contrast brings everything into balance, although, I dare say, that the trash reality is slowing growing like a cancer over the world — In India and China and, the ocean trash-islands (from documentaries I know of the deep sea/ocean trash) it is more common to see and know of, but it’s gonna be felt by all at some point).
You’re right about contrast. It was, actually, quite a beautiful day and the green was greener than usual as we drove up the hill. Then the scene devolved as we approached the trash heap...
Coming from Egypt, I’m sadly aware of this problem—we even have a Garbage Village, where unfortunates sort through trash, in an effort to recycle it and make some money. Awareness and education are slowly entering the picture, but not soon enough, I’m afraid. Sigh
Dont know if its intentional but this down side up effect to this images is kind of a fit. its trying to say we humans are really careless about our waste.
Yes, I suppose, that’s the accidental poetry of technology (which seems to have a life of its own). At least, it was good to see that white bird bathing on the way out, after so much ugliness...
I saw a comment saying otherwise. please dont rotate and fix the photos.. its necessary for people to notice this. if it does the trick then let it be.
Thank goodness for cinema enthusiasts! 😀
Indeed, it looks like some kind of apocalypse. If the heron lives on the lake, then the lake is very clean.
And you didn’t see the scavengers, black vultures with wings spread like Death... But, it had just rained, so the angel heron arrived on the scene :)
I'm sorry that the vultures were not in the photo. Or I do not see them ;-)
Is the upside-down intentional? It doesn't feel right…!
Sorry, about that... On the road & dunno why that happened — it was right side up when I took it (maybe the world is upside down)!
Some pic is still upside-down!
That’s fine (and no need for exclamation marks, please).
There always a need for marks, whatever whoever writes think is appropriate to convey proper prosody! They exist silly remarks, though.
It is a upside down world at times ... loved the subtle play on perception here:)

Thanks for sharing your post @yahialababidi . Many people have changed now. They are spoiling their environment and destroying the environment. They do not think that they can harm them too.
