#smartphonephotography of the Temple Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai, Thailand

Hi, Dear Steemians friends. Today I want to share some pictures I have done a few years back with an Iphone 4s. It was taken a little outside of Chiang Rai at the famous Wat Rong Khun also called the white temple. This temple is a kind of exception in Thailand as it is not a temple with monk made with the money of the people, like most temples in Thailand. This temple is in fact designed and owned by a very renowned and talented Thai designer named Chalermchai Kositpipat. He made a lot of pictures in a unique style mixing tradition and modern design sometimes even psychedelic. Next, to the Ubosot (main temple) there is a museum with all his design where the visitors can buy some limited printing of some original pictures. In his career he made a lot of illustrations for some beautiful books made by the regretted King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX, who was also a great artist in many fields like painting, music, photography, writing and much more. Inside the Ubosot is some painting of hello kitty, Superman, terminator and other to show how weak people are today in this modern society. The temple is full of sculptures and it all has a message to understand. Today, the temple is still not finished yet as Chalermchai Kositpipat keep adding other buildings around and giant statues. The place will become a kind of special place with many things to see, a little like the Buddha park next to Vientiane in Laos. This is a very beautiful place to visit, you will be surprised by the level of details on every building even the cones for the road are designed by the artist, a must see.
