Introduction and detailed tips on trading / investing better!

Hello steemers!

My name is Jochen & i'm 29 years old living in Belgium.
I have always been interested in technologies that can change people's life. As for now i'm a ICT Coördinator in different schools around my country and i love my job. I have a girlfriend and a dream of a daughter who is 3 years old.

In the following blogs i will talk about my experiences i had with crypto and the things i've learned about it to get better at this revolutionary technology that cryptocurrency has to offer. I've heard first about crypto since 2013 and i'm investing since that period. To make this blog not to big i will take 1 subject time by time. My first one will be about the most important one:

Safety!

I have seen many people losing altcoins / bitcoin because of being to careless about their safety. The following things are basics you need to do before investing in cryptocurrecy.

  • Using 2FA and keep the backup key for extra safety against hackers is a very important one!
On the exchanges you have an option to enable 2 factor authentication.
Here is an example of the popular exchange Binance!

You need to download an app called 'Google Authenticator' and scan the QR code for receiving the code that changes every 30 seconds. Don't forget to make a backup like you see above so you can use it again after your phone is
lost / broke.. . Many people forget this! You can't login without it after enabling and you need to be helped with the support to get your coins back on that exchange with some luck.

  • Keep your coins only on exchanges for swing-trading or day trading! The safest way i have found to store your coins is with the Nano Ledger S .

On this device you are storing your private key with a backup of 24 words you need to write down and keep safe. Your Nano Ledger S is keeping it's private key offline and you need to enter your extra PIN code and approval with every transaction you are sending for extra safety. You can also connect this device with MEW ( Your private key will still be on the nano ledger S and is not hackable on MEW ). This makes a connection with MEW (Myetherwallet) itself but your key is not exposed.

  • Bookmark your exchanges and sites with sensitive info!

The most popular way that hackers / scammers are stealing altcoins and info now is by changing a letter or DNS of a website. By instance you can google Binance and the first site can show you bInance.com ( SCAM! ) instead of binance.com ( REAL! ) 'letter i changed to capitcal L'. Also they can change the DNS of the website so they can automatically lead you to another link. Bookmark the sites that are trusted. Also links inside telegram or mails are oftem scam mails to steal info about you. Beware of that!

  • Always send a very small amount of coins to another wallet to be sure everything comes through fine!

If you are new and sending coins from 1 way to another it's best to send a very small amount of coins first to see if it arrives so you don't need to be stressed if the coins don't come through immediatly.

Those are some of the basic safety measures i think people need to take to keep their coins safe! In the next blogs i will be speaking more about how i learned to trade / invest smarter.

Thanks for being in this great community guys/girls!!
