New Nokia 8 Leak Highlights Finland's Perfectly Boring Smartphone

The return of the Nokia name to the smartphone market continues. The volume sales of the mid-range Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will be the financial foot soldiers that help HMD Global go from a Finnish-based start-up to an established player in the smartphone world.

The upcoming Nokia 8 is the handset that the geekerati are waiting for, with its SnapDragon 835 system on chip, Zeis powered dual camera system, and the large 5.7 inch screen. Last week we saw leaked images that confirmed the existence of the gold copper colour. Further leaked images have shown the colour and design, confirming the choices.

It also highlights why the Nokia 8 (which is arguably HMD’s flagship handset) is going to find it difficult in any head-to-head comparisons with devices like the iPhone 8 or Galaxy S8. The current cutting edge fashion in smartphone design is edge-to-edge screens with minimal bezels. The actual screen may not be curved, but the top glass gracefully bringing the top surface down to a narrow chassis.
