Small business blog / opening a bookstore / self motivation / 21 days in
It looks like my post 21 days ago was when I decided to rearrange the store. I hope this blog is working because generally I have stayed on track. I might still spend too much time on the Internet or writing this, but I think three weeks of being on track is doing pretty well. The big problem is I feel as though I lost an entire year, I now have to catch up to a year (or two) worth of work.
I made a few Facebook marketplace posts and people seemed interested. I am not looking into print marketing. I really feel like things are nowhere near as presentable as I would like, but I have been saying the same thing for two years. I used COVID as an excuse not to advertise but I should have been getting things ready.
At this point in time if the business fails it’s because of me. I still feel good about selling books, easier to inventory and display, higher profit margin, more difficult to steal. Not feeling great about organizing things. I am trying to put them into categories but I wouldn’t be surprised if things are at around 50% efficiency, as in books are in front of books and books are in the back still. Things are definitely not ideal right now. I wanted a nice big area to sort things and not have books in the isles so it’s difficult to walk down. It’s also slow going sorting by category, it’s not always obvious what’s fiction from non-fiction.
Anyway, no real update, more of the same, just need to keep at it.
