Drawing a DOTA 2 Hero #001(A Step-by-Step Tutorial)
Meepo the Geomancer!
I am an avid gamer and have been playing DOTA (Defense Of The Ancients) since highschool up until today. I'm not as pro as you might imagine but an average all around player whom my friends and teammates can definitely rely on, on and off the gaming world.
I decided to start drawing DOTA 2 Heroes to commemorate my almost 5+ years of playing the game. Now, for a little bit of background of the character:
Meepo the Geomancer is a melee agility hero known for it's extremely difficult micromanagement. Since Meepo has an ultimate skill: "Divided We Stand", it creates an additional 3 clones of himself (4 if you have an item named Aghanim's Scepter). If one of the clone dies or even the original, they all perish. It means that during the team fight, you are to control each individual clones as well as the original Meepo. The clones cannot equip the items the original Meepo has but has the same boots like Boots of Travel,Phase Boots, Power Threads, etc. that the original Meepo wears. Each individual Meepo is fairly weak but together, they can produce a chain of nukes and disables with the help of it's skills: Earthbind, Poof, and Geostrike.
Lore:
"If you ask me, life is all about who you know and what you can find. When you live up in the Riftshadow Ruins, just finding food can be tough. So you need to cut corners, you need to scrounge, you need to know your strengths. Some of the beasts up there can kill you, so you need a way to trap the weak and duck the strong. On the upside, the ruins have history, and history is worth a lot to some people. There used to be a palace there, where they had all these dark rituals. Bad stuff. If you survived the ceremony, they would shatter a crystal and split your soul into pieces. They made great art though! Sculptures and such. Let me tell you: sometimes you stumble onto some of those old carvings. Take a pack full of those to town and sell them, then get yourself food for a few weeks. If luck is really on your side, you might find a Riftshadow crystal. Get it appraised and start asking around. Someone always knows some crazy fool looking for this kind of thing. If all else fails, sell it to a Magus the next time one's in town. They love that stuff. Still, whatever you do, be careful handling those crystals. You do not want one to go off on you. It really hurts."

Here is the process for the drawing:
- First I did the sketch using my Stabilo pencil and eraser.
- Then I started to ink the head and did the outline for the weapon. I used 0.3 and 0.5 My Gel Sign pen. Most of the finer details are done using the finer tip O.3 Sign pen. I used really light strokes to define the fur like texture of the head.
- The rest are done the same way. Using really light strokes layer by layer to somehow create some depth on the drawing, while still using the 0.3 Sign pen.
- I finished the drawing after adding in the net behind and the logo of the game along with my signature. All it needs now is a little bit of editing.
After the edit:
You can edit it in any way that suits you. You can also use other apps to give you a better range of options to enhance the photo of your drawing.

Dig the drawing dude. But next time, please mention that you copy pasted the Lore portion of the post from a referenced site. It can be qualified as copy paste or plagiarism if a part of the content isn't your own without due credit.
Done sir, I forgot to put the reference site lmao so sorry for that. If you liked my content you can try and check my other drawings
Saw the previous works too. You need more exposure. Comment on other people's posts for more engagement, your name grows faster that way. Maybe consider joining the steemartist community too. It's another community for artists like slothicorn and artzone.
Done sir. Thank you for the tips. It'll be a huge help for me and fellow artists like us.
@lemareg, great drawing, such brilliant details. The feathers are so beautifully done. My son and daughter are avid gamers as well and enjoy playing with other gamers on line as you do. They’ve been gamers sense they were very young, there dad started teaching them how. There also artist, and both very good at drawing Anime. I hope to see more of your work posted in the gallery. I wish you well, and blessings.
Thank you so much! I will certainly try and keep on sharing good quality content here. I wish you well also and more blessings!
