From Whuffo to Skydiver - AFF Levels 1 - 7 qualifying as a skydiver

My business partner decided to learn to skydive and this video is a mashup of his journey from his 1st skydive through to qualifying and obtaining his BPA A-licence.

This photo was his qualifying jump with his Instructor Chris Lynch (Skydive Headcorn).

Steve spent over 2 weeks of driving to Headcorn every day (2hr drive there), to work through his levels. Headcorn isn't a very busy drop zone and they only have the one aircraft (Cessna 208 Caravan), so it's a slow process for AFF as you may only get 1 jump a day.

He finally got them done and booked a week off in Devon, so that he could jump at Dunkeswell drop zone (Honiton) where he can now get 6+ jumps a day in easy. Dunks have 2 or 3 Beech 99 King Air's, which are very VERY nice planes to jump from as they have benches to sit on, and they climb from 0ft to 15,000ft in 9 minutes!

Jason, the owner of the drop zone, is very efficient, he ensures there is a load going up every 20 mins, the plane is never on the ground for more than a few minutes between jumps.

So we are all spoiled at this DZ!

I drove down and camped for the weekend with my wife, so I could be there for when Steve qualified, and so I could get several jumps myself.

We managed to get a 3-way FS jump organised with UK BASE jumping legend Simon Jakeman, or more famously known as B.A.S.E 60. He is the 60th person on the planet to have jumped from all for objects, BUILDING, ANTENNA, SPAN, EARTH. Simon, or 'Jake' as he is more commonly know as, only jumps a few times a year now so we were really lucky to catch him to come and jump with us!
