The Singularity

If you are familiar with Ray Kurzweil then we can at least agree he is a "man-in-the-know" of future ideas and technologies. He makes predictions decades out with a proven track record of being correct 86% of the time. Just a list of some of his latest predictions:

-By the late 2010s, glasses will beam images directly onto the retina. Ten terabytes of computing power (roughly the same as the human brain) will cost about $1,000.

-By the 2020s, most diseases will go away as nanobots become smarter than current medical technology. Normal human eating can be replaced by nanosystems. The Turing test begins to be passable. Self-driving cars begin to take over the roads, and people won’t be allowed to drive on highways.

-By the 2030s, virtual reality will begin to feel 100% real. We will be able to upload our mind/consciousness by the end of the decade.

-By the 2040s, non-biological intelligence will be a billion times more capable than biological intelligence (a.k.a. us). Nanotech foglets will be able to make food out of thin air and create any object in physical world at a whim.

-By 2045, we will multiply our intelligence a billionfold by linking wirelessly from our neocortex to a synthetic neocortex in the cloud.

Where do I even begin with this? I am 37 years old and will be 65 in the year 2045. Where was the meeting where we got to decide on this crazy "end of humanity as we know it" idea? To understand the magnitude of this I did some further research and discovered that Elon Musk just started a company providing AI systems to implant with brain tissue. These men are "Futurists" and claim to be liberal minded nerds when really if you break it down to its bare essence then you could make a strong case they are Demons sent to facilitate our transition into machines. Biotech (big pharma) is merging with Silicon Valley. The four horsemen (A.I., 5G, blockchain, quantum computing) are on the horizon and will usher in Kurzweils predictions. Think about that for a second.... if you are 30 to 40 years old and thinking you are free and clear of the crazy advancements of technology then you got another thing coming. I mean, doesn't this change your retirement plans just a bit? Will we really witness the end of HUMANITY?

Imagine you are in a tribe and at your meeting the science guy reports that he has discovered something that will build your houses, produce your food, facilitate travel, connect all over the world instantly, and do all your work for you. Sounds great. Then he tells the tribe that if not governed, his invention will destroy the tribe shortly after it's implementation. The logical response from the tribe will be, "Can it do all those things and not kill us all?" The answer is yes. Unfortunately this meeting already happened and humanity wasn't invited and they decided to implement it full force without restrictions.

Whether becoming a machine is an idea you like or dislike it should at least be a choice. The irony is that it will be a choice. Question is how big of a choice will it be and will you make the right one? When they come to you and tell you that you can learn anything within seconds and live in an alt reality where you are a god will be a tough decision. Remember someone has already made this decision for your tribe without any persons in the tribe's approval. If we are humans created in the image of God, then who is this tribe that decided we will become machines? Will we wake up and fight this tribe to control A.I. to make it a useful tool for humanity to thrive instead of altering it drastically into a new form of being?
