All the single ladies... PUT YOUR HANDS UP!

in #single7 years ago (edited)

You’re worried.

Your daughter is 25. She’s been working for a couple of years now and seems quite happy and content.

But what next?

You’ve never had to think of what’s next. Till she finished studying, you had her education to worry about; then you had her employment to worry about. When she was employed you had her settling down a little and being able to manage everything on her own to worry about. But now that it’s all done, what do you worry about?

That’s when relatives come to your rescue! They always have the right situations for you to worry about. And this time they’ve come up with ‘The Marital Status’ situation.

Now what makes a situation ‘Worriable’?

Compare your children with others of the same age: Now that you are proficient at handling facebook, and have all your daughters friends on your friends list, all you can see on your timeline are photo albums of their engagements or weddings. Now Mrs.Relative gets it stuck in your head by naming all the kids who are getting married.
Your daughter, now, wants to travel all the time, ALONE! All this while she had friends to keep her occupied. But now that she’s telling you she wants to go on solo trips, there obviously must be something wrong. Mrs.Relative knows what! “She’s lonely. All her friends have companions, so she must feel left out” This is where the “Get married, then go wherever you feel like, with your better half” comes from.
She lost her phone. Obviously irresponsible. “Marriage will bring in some seriousness and make these children responsible!”says Mrs.Relative.
Flashbacks: “When we were their age, we were married and had kids and had divorced and married again already! And these children are still acting like they are children” Ofcourse Mrs.Relative, how can we even compete with you!
The Sale is on: “If you wait too long, all the good ones will be taken and she will be left with old stock”. Correct!
Photographs wont be good: “We are also growing old. When will we wear all the lovely sarees and jewellery that we have saved for your daughters special day? Even we want to look nice in her photo album no?” (Not inviting this lady for sure!)
Her clock is ticking: And when no other point comes to mind, the biological clock strikes twelve! “Ding dong bell, Nobody wants a dry well!”
But dear Mummy and Papa,

Do you truly believe any of the above reasons are going to keep your daughter from finding her man when the time is right? Actually, that’s a wrong question. With all the awesome things your daughter’s upto everyday, shining bright and making the world her own; Do you think she is going to go unseen by the right man? Don’t let the world believe your daughter needs to run the rats race and be ahead of the rest to grab a good guy. She’s too awesome for most and making her think otherwise, or you thinking otherwise and settling for good enough, is just wrong!

If people say “You can’t think you’ll get the best and be so picky. Choose a decent one and just get her married already!”, tell them your daughter is the best and deserves the best.

Don’t worry so much, because when I was just a little girl, this is what you sang to me

“QueSera Sera, Whatever will be will be. The future’s not ours to see. Que Sera Sera”

(Clearly look better when set free! )
