Former Brazilian President Silva convicted of corruption, court sentenced to 13 years
Former Brazilian President Luis Incio Lula da Silva has been sentenced to 13 years in prison in another case of corruption. He is serving jail sentence in another case of corruption since April last year. Judge Gabriel Hartt said in his decision on Wednesday that Silva was found guilty of taking bribe of $ 2.5 million (about 1.67 crore) from construction companies. They are sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison.
Twice, Brazilian President Silva was once considered the most powerful leader of this Latin American country, but after being ousted from the presidency in 2011, he was caught in corruption charges. Silva and her supporters claim that they have done nothing wrong. They tell the conspiracy to keep these allegations away from power. In the year 2017, Sylva (73) was found guilty of taking a apartment on the seashore from the construction company OAS, instead of giving contracts. In this case he was sentenced to 12 years and one month.
Earlier, in November 2018, a lawsuit was begun in the case of corruption of two former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Dilma Roussef. Both are accused of taking bribe through government oil company Petrobras. Both the party's 'Workers Party' president and other leaders are also accused in this case. However, the party had described these cases as bias and abusive moves.
Let us know that the Attorney General Rodrigo Jainaut had complained against both former presidents. They alleged that both took bribe of $ 340 million through the government oil company. The federal court had ordered the prosecution of sanctioning his complaint.
