SILIŅI. Is that a BIRCH CANCER?
I was working in the forest just the other day, when I noticted that some of the fallen trees had witch broom's in them. So I took a closer look at them and I was surprised wthat they realy are. I've seen them in the trees before. Our neighbors birch has a lot of them.
But I never had a closer look at them. I always thought that there just a bunch of twigs stuck in one place. Or my second gues would be that its a nest for some crows or some other birds. But I could never imagine that it's such a vierd formation.
If you take a closer look at it, it definitely looks like some disease. it dosen't look normal or helthy. And not all trees have them. I realised that I have seen them only in birch and only in a few birches. So it's not a comon thing - it has to be a disease. The question is: "How bad is it?"
Heres some close up pictures from the thing, if somebody hasen't seen them up close.
