"I'm Her Friend" (A Short Story)

There she goes again, hoping to see the love of her life for the last time.
And I came along with her to witness once again her foolishness in the name of love.

"You are so dumb! There are so many fishes in the ocean but why are you sticking to that dumber ass man?" I shouted at her but it seemed that she didn't hear me or let's just say that she chose to ignore my rant.

We went on their agreed meeting place.
We came too early not because she's so excited to see him but because she's trying her best of luck to see him by this time.

The guy was her boyfriend for four years even though she never saw his true face.
They just always talked over the phone and the guy's using a photo on all his social media accounts that is not his own face. Despite the odd relationship they had, she never gives up on him hoping that someday he would finally reveal himself to her.
And then she hoped that today would be that day even though they already broke up last night.
The guy agreed to meet him for the last time just to personally say goodbye and it was the guy's initiative to break up with her because he believes that when she sees his face, she must realize that she really doesn't love him at all.
And so we went here to prove him wrong.

We waited for hours but the guy never showed up.
Then she received a text from him:
'Goodbye, Love. I choose to love you from a distance and I'm setting you free. I will finally stay away from you because you don't deserve a coward like me.'

And all she can do was to cry while shouting inside her mind that he's so unfair!

Then here is my purpose today.
She pulled me out from her bag to wipe those endless tears.
I was a gift from that man.
A pink hankerchief that she always carry.
