The last light
"The Last Light"
In a small, forgotten village where the sun hadn’t shined in years, 16-year-old Mara found an ancient lantern buried beneath the roots of a twisted oak. Unlike anything she had seen, it glowed softly, casting warmth against the cold, gray world.
The elders warned her of old tales—of a light that could awaken the sun but at a cost. Mara, tired of endless shadows, decided to risk it. That night, she climbed the highest hill, the lantern flickering brighter with each step.
At the peak, a whisper filled the air, "One wish, one price."
“I wish for the sun to return,” Mara declared.
The lantern’s light exploded, flooding the sky. As golden rays touched the village for the first time in decades, Mara vanished, becoming part of the light she had freed.
Every dawn since, the sun rises brighter—as if someone’s still guiding it from above.
