It is what we believe works that we do, if something favors you when you are in power, then every other person is forced to live by your decisions. How the heck could blue eyes people have so much control? But yes that's the reality even now. We classify ourselves based on mundane things and over time, generations will do the same which am quite sure will be on more mundane things.
