The Ordinary Man
One day there was an ordinary man. He was so ordinary that his name is not even an important part of this story. His features are even indescribable, due to his extra-ordinary state of being. But I will say that he is a middle-aged man, who only has one significant personality trait. This man knows the truth about everything. Literally everything on earth, this guy knows that there is a truth to each subject, and he knows what those truths are. This ordinary man has no friends because he knows the truth about every person he sees, or comes into close contact with, but nobody even notices him due to his uncanny, abnormal, and ordinary life. He pretty much does what everyone else does, except for the things that he knows aren’t true to a life worth living.
He doesn’t watch television, nor does he listen to the radio, because of the astounding programming and brainwashing that comes from those ungodly mechanisms. The man absolutely despises cell phones and computers. He constantly discredits technology, but only to himself because he CAN’T talk to anyone because he has yet to find one single true person on earth. They are all fake in substance.
On one particularly ordinarily rainy weekend day, in an ordinarily rainy city, the man walks slowly outside of his ordinary apartment building. He hates his home, because it is littered with lies. Once he steps outside of his apartment building, he immediately looks up and shields his eyes, because it seems very bright to him. He puts on his sunglasses, even though it is cloudy and rainy. He feels a sense of confidence, he feels better knowing that he can see without squinting, he can see the truth now. The man sees a fake sky. Ordinarily, his sight would be described, but since you are reading this story, you must also be able to see truth, and need no further explanation.
There are hundreds of people walking up and down the street, but nobody notices him or thinks that wearing sunglasses during the rain is strange, since they are all glued to their “smart” devices. Nobody looks up anymore. During the past few years, people have stopped interacting altogether, and only communicate through digital means. The man knows how to speak still, but nobody hears him or speaks back because they are all ignorant, or they seem to have forgotten how to understand and use spoken words. The man might as well be the last man alive. Except on this ordinary and rainy day someone is watching him, and the man knows. He can feel it. The man knew the truth and the truth was that, to someone, this ordinarily abnormal man was special to someone.
In this particularly ordinary land, there is a government. A government who protects its employees from certain lies. They know just enough truth to think that they are in fact doing the right thing. They love the power and control that they have over all the people in this ordinary city. The truth is very compartmented and complicated, yet the man is the only person who knows everything. He especially knows that any bureaucracy that functions in secret, inevitably blends itself with corruption. This man knows the truth about everything because he used to be the guy in charge of the government.
The man used to be extraordinary and everyone loved him. It is the man’s fault that spoken language was lost, and that technology has such an attractive and addictive characteristic. The more wealth and power the man brought onto himself, the further he drifted from humanity since he was the only one, not doing the evil things that everyone else was doing even though, whenever anyone looked at him, he would pretend to do those very same things.
In the beginning, everyone thought his ideas were stupid. They would say nasty and hateful things and tell him that he was going against the wishes of God. And he was; But eventually the people stopped passing down the ways of sustaining a life, the ways of truth and human knowledge because they have slowly become addicted to the new way of life. Within a few short years the entire population was stuck in a new world that everyone loved so much that they couldn’t see that they have been enslaved. Even animals were no match to the power of addiction. There were no more wild animals, only pets. Whatever animals weren’t hypnotized, were destroyed by the effects of the device’s frequencies and digital magic.
Once everyone on earth was completely consumed by his inventions, he decided that he needed to establish a system of government, so he could even further control the people. He took certain people and trained them in certain skills and woke them up separately to different aspects of his form of magic. Each employee knew the truth about something different, but nobody could talk about what they knew because they were sworn to secrecy and some even died to protect the secrets. The employees were so proud to be somewhat normal that they felt honored to be allowed to be ordinary; Even though it was now ordinary to be a digital slave.
Once the last of his benchmarks were met, the system worked like a well-oiled machine and the man was no longer needed to be a part of the system. It was self-sufficient and ran itself. He quickly grew very bored of the situation and decided that he should now do whatever he wished. The man experimented and did evil things to the drones. Every day he would try to accomplish three things that he always wanted to do. Some activities he enjoyed more than others and we will not go in depth, except I will tell you that it was inherently evil, and many children were killed.
The man continued his deeds for an entire decade until he began to grow bored. The man began to feel lonely. He no longer had the interaction that he used to have. He could literally stab someone in the guts, and they wouldn’t even notice, or care. Soon the man decided that life was no fun by himself. The man soon became grief stricken and wished he could end the system. The man would physically grab people and shake them, but the daze was too strong, and he couldn’t wake them from the trance.
One day the guy shook a woman so hard that her neck had been broken. She fell to the ground, but as she was dying, she was gasping for breath, and viciously reaching for her device that had fallen just out of reach. She did not reach for her neck as if to console her wound, but only reached to grasp her device.
While watching the woman, the man had become very sad and ashamed at what he had done. Not for killing the woman with his bare hands, she had died the minute she looked at the device, but he felt guilty for putting such an overwhelming thing within the fingertips of all other humans. Even the employees were like this, just on a lesser extent. They were weaned from the devices but could only during work hours because of their extensive programming.
The man had now become good. He had wished that he could change the world again, but it was too late. The system was so effective that the people were still having children, but as soon as they came out of the womb, a device was placed into their hands by the employees. The babies wouldn’t even cry. They didn’t crave milk, and the mothers didn’t even hold their young, ever. The spell was so powerful that it even fed the human drones and sustained “life”. Nobody cared about anything, except for the devices.
The man began plotting a way to stop the madness from happening and that’s why he decided to leave his apartment this ordinary day. The employees knew what he was up to, and he knew that they knew. How could the man get every human drone to give up their device? He pondered for a few minutes while he was walking down the road towards his old headquarters. He remembered that his engineers were the ones that made his plan come to life. He thought that there must be something there that he can use to change the world back to the way it was before all of this.
The man was alone, and he would fail because of that fact, and he finally understood this truth just before his death…
